Hi everyone,
I'm hoping there is someone out there that can help me?
I am trying to upgrade a Business Basics company file to the new Account Right Basics but it won't let me. When I choose the company file I want to upgrade it gives me an error saying "The file you selected can't be upgraded. Please select an MYOB BusinessBasics company file". Even though the file I have selected is actually a Business basics file. I have done the same thing with two other company files and it has worked perfectly, so I'm not sure what to do??? ![]()
Your help will be much appreciated,
Thanks,
Stacey ![]()

Hi Stacey,
The BusinessBasics company file you are attempting to upgrade has the file extension .DAT instead of .dat, for example Companyfile.DAT instead of Companyfile.dat

Hopefully this is straight forward.
Is anyone able to tell me how to change the file extension from .DAT to .dat? I can rename the actual file but there isnt an option to rename the extension.

If you are using Windows Explorer, the default view is to hide the extension for known file types. You may need to change this setting.
In Windows 7, while viewing your folder, go to Tools, Options, View (tab), and look for "Hide file extension...", and untick this option.
In Windows XP select Tools, Folder Options, View tab.
