AccountRight Upgrade Update - 23 Nov 2011

Dear All,

Thank you for your patience, and for leaving valuable feedback.  We’re definitely listening and we’re working hard to provide help and an improved experience.  We’ll be posting updates as soon as they are available, and keep you informed as we move forward.

As part of our product release process and to ensure we continue to deliver the best experience we are:

-          Documenting the issues we know that some of our users are experiencing.  Our product and support teams are working through these individually, and we aim to have some answers for you all soon.

-         Offering ongoing support via our Community Forum.  We’d encourage you all to check out the support notes here in the first instance to find a solution to the challenges you are facing

-          We’ll be providing a Service Pack for AccountRight 2011 Plus and Standard, which is currently in development.  We expect this to be available in the coming weeks.

We’d like to reassure you all that support will continue to be available for AccountRight Version 19, so you can continue to use it if you are experiencing issues with AccountRight 2011.

There are comprehensive support notes available, which can be found here.  We’d also encourage you to check out our support videos that should help you navigate and familiarise yourself with the new features of AccountRight 2011.

We know that some clients have been experiencing performance issues, and it’s important to remember that the new AccountRight 2011 has been built using next generation technology.  As this technology is an improvement over AccountRight Version 19, the minimum system requirements have increased.  We’d encourage you to double check your computer meets these requirements here in the meantime (Australian users will find those here, and NZ clients should visit here), while we investigate further.

Please continue to leave feedback and questions here.  We apologise for any inconvenience you may be currently experiencing.

Kind regards,

Su

Re: AccountRight Upgrade Update - 23 Nov 2011

I'm sure I speak for MANY users of the system when I kindly request that you don't fob off these performance issues with the new system as being anything to do with not meeting minimum requirements for the system.

For example, I am running with Windows 7 64-bit, with the latest and greatest of all required third-party software packs, CPU is an Intel Core i7 @ 2.80GHz, with 6GB RAM and an SSD harddrive on which MYOB runs.

It's really upsetting to think that MYOB would even consider that the speed issues in the new system are at all related to the system on which it is running, with specs like that.

I see in the list of requirements you have Quick Time version whatever. Why do I need poor quality video player that is slow takes up rescources and is poorly written. I prefer to us Windows media Player or even better Media Player Classic which comes with Klite codec pack.

I have been looking at the file structure for the libraries, Why is this folder a shared folder. This folder should not be shared and there should be no remote access to the pc running accounting software to maintain security.

Re: AccountRight Upgrade Update - 23 Nov 2011

Hi Ricc,

AccountRight v19 and AccountRight 2011 both requires Quicktime components to convert graphics and complex fonts to a .PDF file.  This is used when emailing or using the send to disk option.

If were only printing your invoices, Quicktime doesn't need to be installed.

You can have Windows Media Player setup as your default media player.  This will not effect AccountRight.

Kind Regards

Barry

Hi Ricc,

Yes you would be able to email or send to disk however if you have a logo on your invoice, the logo will not appear when emailing.  The below link details this further.

You are correct in saying if you don't have logos or customised fonts within your form, you won't need quicktime installed.

Kind Regards

Barry

Re: AccountRight Upgrade Update - 23 Nov 2011

And the library is shared beacause??

Seems a bit strange to share a folder on a pc without telling the user your doing it. I dont recall any popup advising me the installation was creating an insecure folder containing private/confidential personal details of my customers and employees. Are the bank details for the employee pays also kept there? I only found it was shared by looking for the company file for backup purposes as I always have two copies at al times. Im not sure I like the idea of the shared folders as NONE of my other folders are shared. The only thing shared on this PC is the printer and all you can do with that is print something. These days security is everything and from reading other posts of various problems this new version seems to be few steps backwards. I hope these things can be sorted out as I do like MYOB (plus 19 that is ) as it does everything I need it to do.

Re: AccountRight Upgrade Update - 23 Nov 2011

Hi WebAngel,

We are definitely not trying to fob anyone off. We are dealing with the information we know - and the knowledge that it does not work on your system (which is state of the art!! Can you buy me that the next time you go out shopping??!!!!) is more information on the state of affairs that is being fed up to our developers.

So no WebAngel - we are listening  and listening intently and we are trying to find solutions.

Kind regards,

Su
