How to record Employee reward for referring a new staff?

We recently started Finder's reward program.

 

The company pay a reward from $200 to $500 to the exising staffs when new staffs they introduced  to the company have worked certain period of time.

 

I am unsure if this payment can be included in the payroll as a type of bonus(could be taxable)  or we can just record as spend money - recruitment expenses.

 

Please advise me how to process the payment? Thank you.

    Thanks for your post. As we're not accountants we're not permitted to advise on how those payments need to be reported, you will need to discuss this with your accountant or the ATO.

     

    Once you know how they need to be reported I'll be happy to help with recording the transactions in your software.
