Changing a category for a transaction

Hi

 

How can I go back and change a transaction's category?  Once I have allocated a payment to an invoice the category is being greyed out and I can't go back and change the category.  It is so frustrating.  Is there a setting that I need to change to be able to go back and change it?

    Hi Catherin 

     

    Thanks for your question. You are correct that the reason you can't change the category is because it has a payment allocated against it. To change the category, you would need to delete the payment before editing the category. 

     

    The only other alternative would be to reverse the sale, then re-enter it with the new category, but that might take longer than deleting and re-entering the payment associated.
