Re: MYOB AccountsRight 2016.3 - How to connect to sql server 2014

Hi @HIP

You do not have to be online to use the API, it can be used with your local file. The API installs locally in the Windows environment just like the AccountRight software.

If you wish to use the API with a cloud file, then i'd suggest registering with the MYOB Developer Team .

I see that you are wanting to send data from AccountRight to Excel, this tutorial explains how to configure the API for a local file.

Hope this is of some help. Smiley Happy

Re: MYOB AccountsRight 2016.3 - How to connect to sql server 2014

Hi Neil,

I did go through the link that was provided to connect excel, but I can't find the 'API_installer' or 'API.bootstrapper.exe as mentioned below.

Step 1: Install the AccountRight Live API

First step in integrating Excel to you AccountRight 2013 datafile is to install the AccountRight Live API. Head to C:\Program Files\MYOB\AccountRight\API_Installer on your computer and then run the installer called MYOB.AccountRight.API.Bootstrapper.exe. This will step you through the installation process.

Please note that I am only testing this release in our TEST environment and, it is saved in the local directory, read-only file and not registered online.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Regards,

Jyothi

Re: MYOB AccountsRight 2016.3 - How to connect to sql server 2014

Hi Jyothi ( @HIP )

As mentioned in my previous post you would be best to have a look at the help article I linked for you. That covers how to extract information from your AccountRight file into Excel, and would be the best place to start. If you are having difficulty in following the help article, as mentioned previously I would check out our API Board, which will allow you to ask more specific developer and API related questions.

Kind regards,

Re: MYOB AccountsRight 2016.3 - How to connect to sql server 2014

Sorry Neil, I am new to MYOB.

I went to 'Add-on connector' and it reads 'Run Add-on connector at startup' and there is a link to 'Get accountright add-ons'.

Do I need to get any add-ons to connect sql server/excel?

regards,

Jyothi

Re: MYOB AccountsRight 2016.3 - How to connect to sql server 2014

Hi Jyothi ( @HIP )

Welcome to the MYOB Community Forum, I hope you find it a great resource.

AccountRight 2016.3 uses the AccountRight API to connect add-ons through to the AccountRight 201X.X files, it doesn’t require configuring SQL server for the add-on to pull information.

You may want to have a look at this article from the developer centre, Using MS Excel to connect. In addition if you have other questions regarding the API you may want to have a look at our API Board where you will be able to get more specialised advice from other developers.

Kind regards,
Neil

MYOB AccountsRight 2016.3 - How to connect to sql server 2014

Hello,

At present, we are on  Accountright Plus 19.13 version.

We are testing AccountsRight 2016.3 in our test environment. Since this release doens't use ODBC connection, would you please advise how to configure SQL server 2014 to connect to MYOB.

Also, please let us know how to connect to MYOB from Excel  as we currently run quite a few queries within Excel to extract specific fields that are required to meet business requirements.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Regards,

Jyothi
