Accountright 2011 - Update 13th April

Hi everyone,

Hopefully you’ve all had a chance to look at and experience the improvements delivered in Service Pack 3 for AccountRight.

Service Pack 4 – what to expect

We’re finalising the inclusions for Service Pack 4 at the moment. The areas that are currently being focused on are:

  • Faster Payment Summaries
  • Show / hide inactive cards and items
  • Faster Payroll Processing (for Australia)
  • Ability to save column resize and reposition preferences

As we get a more definitive list of the specific enhancements and fixes that Service Pack 4 delivers, we’ll be sure to pass this information on to you.

ACCOUNTRIGHT 2011 TIPS AND TRICKS

Separating dates with full stops

Many of you are familiar with using a full stop as a date separator in AccountRight version 19. Did you know this is still possible in AccountRight 2011? You just need to make an adjustment in the Windows Regional & Language settings.

To access in Windows 7:

  1. Click into the Windows start button> Control Panel> Region and language
  2. Select “Additional Settings”  and then the “Date” tab
  3. In the “Short Date” field replace the ‘/’ characters with ’.
  4. Click apply
  5. Close and re-open AccountRight 2011.

You should now find all date fields are shown with a ‘.’ separator and that you can successfully use ‘.’ on the keyboard when keying in dates.

It’s important to note that this is a system-wide setting and may change the way short dates are displayed in other applications as well.  A support note has been created with the above steps (including screenshots and instructions for older operating systems) and can be accessed here if you're in Australia and here if you're in New Zealand.).

There’s also a library of dedicated AccountRight 2011 Support Notes which can be accessed  here if you're in Australia and here if you're in New Zealand.

Did you know?

When drilling down into reports, clicking an item doesn’t make the report disappear. The report simply moves to the background, and is easily reached again by pressing ALT+TAB at the same time. By the way, that ALT+TAB shortcut is one of Windows’ many, many keyboard shortcuts that help to speed up menial tasks in most Windows applications. Here are some more.

As always, we want to hear from you – please feel free to join in the conversation.

Have a wonderful weekend

Re: Accountright 2011 - Update 13th April

Hi Emma,

Because unticking the Preferences>Windows "Show Currency Symbols in Windows" has never worked, can you tell us if we will still have to:-

To access in Windows 7:

  1. Click into the Windows start button> Control Panel> Region and language
  2. Select “Additional Settings”  and then the “Currency” tab
  3. In the “Currency symbol” field replace the ‘$’ character with ’ ’ (a space)
  4. Click apply
  5. Close and re-open AccountRight 2011.
Kind Regards

Re: Accountright 2011 - Update 13th April

Hi Tony

Thanks for bringing this one up - I've just checked in with the product team, and you are correct, this is still a bug that the team are working on and is scheduled for resolution in a future service pack.  The work around you've described above is still your best option for this one, we'll keep you updated when we have more details around when it's likely to be resolved.

Have a great weekend,

Cheers, Emma.

Re: Accountright 2011 - Update 13th April

Hi Emma

If we pick up a copy off the shelf for a new client and download Service Pack 4 do we have to do a catch up ie Service pack 3 before we do 4?

Re: Accountright 2011 - Update 13th April

Hi Ron,

Service Pack 4 will most likely be the same as SP3 where the installation of the prior packs was not required to install the latest. This will of course be confirmed when the service pack is due for release.

Hi Ron,

I just want to clarify, we have remastered our CD's to include Service Pack 3 however if you are buying from a Retailer, it is likely it would be the original release as they will still be using old stock.  This means you will need to "Check for Updates" to update the software to the latest version.

Any clients that purchase AccountRight 2011 or organise a replacement CD directly through MYOB will now include Service Pack 3.

Kind Regards

Re: Accountright 2011 - Update 13th April

One of the many problems in your service pack 3 are. The bank reconciliation, when you look at the screen, it shows you the memo line instead of the payees name , which is no good when you have a whole lot of wages showing.  When you print the bank rec out it prints out the staff addresses, not good enough.

Hi Loz1,

I just want to confirm with you this issue has certainly be raised with our product developers and will be addressed.  Service Pack 4 will be out in the coming weeks and I will let you know if this has been included as soon as I have the release notes.

Kind Regards

Barry - this note seems to epitomise the problems within MYOB at the moment, and one that many people have commented on. Reading between the lines -  you are saying that you have no idea what the developers are doing to fix the problems which have been drawn to their attention and that they have seen little reason to communicate whether or not they have addressed these issues. As I have said before, the red packaged software went through an SQL move of their entire range without the months of pain and promises.

Perhaps it is time that a couple of your developers put themselves up on this forum and tried to explain why this has been such a total *** . And we still wait for Premier.

Re: Accountright 2011 - Update 13th April

Hi Ron

Currently Service Pack 4 is in the final stages of client and partner testing.  After we have validated that all changes have passed testing, we will share this with our forum users.  We'd hate to promise a change and then find that it fails in testing and consequently doesn't make it in the update. In addition to this we will produce release notes which will provide additional detail regarding what has changed in SP4.

In relation to AccountRight Premier, as you mentioned this has been delayed to late 2012, early 2013.

Kind Regards
