Very good question I didn't notice that. I will run the migration again and see what the new log file says.

Unsuccessful: Migration failure

  Company File Name : C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\MYOB\Temp\Amtac-2010-2011.MYO
  Start Time        : 22/11/11 11:46:55 AM
  End Time          : 22/11/11 1:49:12 AM

      Migration Warnings:

  Unsuccessful upgrade!

##--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------##

Same error message but you are right about the date however I am thinking that that it is dropping off a numeral so it should actually be the following which is the time it took to error.

  End Time          : 22/11/11 11:49:12 AM

The error occurred in the processing cash transactions step in the upgrade.

I am assuming my database has more than the max allowed of 255, which seems awfully low.

Re: How to upgrade to AccountRight 2011

Hi Jill,

Don't understand why warnings would cause an Unsuccessful: Migration failure; seems a bit harsh to me.

Do you know what  value='5847,5848,5849,...' mean; eg: is 5847 an id number for a 'Cash Receipt'?

Whilst the maximum length of say the memo field is 255 characters, it may be that carriage return/line feed/s may exist within (\r\n - 4 characters) which to me would be the cause of the warning.  New AccountRight recoginises 'carriage return/line feeds' inserted into text and replicates each of them as 4 characters; an example of this occurring can be seen in an export of say 'Sales - Service' invoices where a user has entered a description over 3 lines in the New AccountRight.

A 'carriage return/line feed' occurs when a user presses the Enter key inside a description/memo field.

Re: How to upgrade to AccountRight 2011

Hi Jill,

Can you try the following regarding your migration failure.

In v19, can you select your "Setup" menu >> "Linked Accounts" >> "Accounts and Banking".

From here you will need to ensure your "Bank Account for Electronic Payments" is set to a clearing account (Not your general cheque account)

You will also need to check "Bank Account for Undeposited Funds" is set to an undeposited funds account (Not your general cheque account).

If you don't have a clearing and undeposited funds account, you can create one through your Accounts Lists.  They are generally setup as an Asset Account.

Once you have changed your linked accounts, you can exit and upgrade your file to the new AccountRight 2011.

We have found that company files with the wrong linked accounts setup are receiving the particular migration error you listed.

Let me know how you go

Kind Regards

Barry

Re: How to upgrade to AccountRight 2011

Hi All,

For anyone experiencing the  following or similar message:

"Processing Cash Transactions: ValueString : String truncation: max=255, len=259, value='5847,5848,5849"

If you have unprocessed Bank Deposits or Electroinic Payments existing in the pre-upgraded file then try processing these first,
THEN upgrade the file.

Once the file has been upgraded then you can reverse or deal with the processed BD/EP's to get the file back to original position.

I've tested this with promising results however only limited test cases.
