Port numbers used by Myob when accessing internet

When we open myob company file it is extremely slow and stops responding, if we turn off our firewall protection it opens straight away.

Our firewall supplier mcafee has asked that we find out the port numbers for myob to manually enter them as exceptions so we can connect.

Try 6962 ("myob" on your phone)

Hi Garyair,

In addition to Mike James's post, the port that I know we make use of are:
6962

6963

16970

443 (The HTTP SSL port for secure websites).

Please note, as you aren't using your file online but only locally on your computer, freeing ports from firewall scanning may improve performance, but we also recommend exempting your Company File (and your .MYOX Sync file if you are working online) from Active scanning by virus scanners.

As Active scanning necessitates McAfee reading the datafile anytime we access it, your performance may improve if you exempt your company file (.MYOX file with your company's name) from active scanning.

The standard library locations are:

  • Windows Vista/Windows 7/Windows Server 2008: C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\MYOB\My AccountRight Files
  • Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Shared Documents\MYOB\My AccountRight Files

If you are using AccountRight Live in the cloud, the standard location for sync files is:

  • Windows 8, 7 and Vista: C:\Users\{name}\AppData\Local\MYOB\AccountRight\Offline\.sync
  • Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\{name}\Local Settings\Application Data\MYOB\AccountRight\Offline\.sync

Note: {name} refers to the user currently logged into Windows, e.g. John.Smith

Exempting your company files from active scanning can significantly improve performance.

This support note also has tips you can follow to speed up your computer:
Speed up your computer for running AccountRight 2011 and later

Kind regards,

Will

Re: Port numbers used by Myob when accessing internet

This reply from myob confuses me.

Firstly, the statement "the port that i know we make use of are". Suggests an awareness of those ports, but not if that is a complete list.

Secondly, port 443 is the typical https port for websites and not 445.

So to be clear, can we have a complete list of ports which includes ingress, egress,  includes protocol (tcp/udp/gre etc) and preferably the destination server ip addresses or address range so we can limit the footprint?

ta,

Ben

Re: Port numbers used by Myob when accessing internet

Hi Ben,

Yes, you are correct, the port is 443, not 445 (we've corrected the mistake in the original post).

In addition, the following ports are required, for communication between all workstations (the IP addresses will of course depend on your network setup):

TCP/UDP 6962
TCP/UDP 6963
TCP/UDP 16971 (v2012.10)
TCP/UDP 16972 (v2013.0)

You may prefer to open a range from 16970 to 16980 to future-proof, as future releases will use these ports.

Kind Regards,

Anna
