Decommissioning of AccountRight Live 2016.2

Hi Everyone

 

With the release of AccountRight 2017.1 not too far away, we are scheduling the decommissioning of the older of our two AccountRight cloud products, AccountRight 2016.2. This decommissioning is scheduled to happen on March 10th 2017

 

If you currently use AccountRight 2016.2 to access your online file, then you will need to upgrade to AccountRight 2016.3 before this date to continue to be able to access your file. To help with this we have prepared the following guide for you

 

Why do I need to update?

 

To ensure that our cloud servers have the best possible performance, we only keep the most recent versions on the cloud. This does mean that from time to time we decommission our older versions, but it also means that this is a great time to update to our latest version.

What do I need to do before I update?

 

Before you update to the latest version, you need to make sure your file is checked in. To check your file in, please go to File >> Check In from within your checked-out file.

 

How do I update to the latest version?

 

  • Download the latest version from my.MYOB (Australia | New Zealand). Our help article Downloading from my.MYOB has a really great guide on how to do this.
  • Install the downloaded update. If you aren’t sure how to do this, then please have a look at our help article  Install AccountRight
  • Open your company file in the new version and then click the upgrade to button

Troubleshooting tips

 

I installed the latest version but my purple AccountRight icon still brings up my old version
When you install a new version of AccountRight 201X.X a new desktop icon is created. The icon for AccountRight 2016.3 however is different to previous Icons as you can see below. Please make sure your opening the right version

I’m getting a message saying I need to have AccountRight 201X.X to open my file, what’s happened? 

When a file is opened in a newer version it gets updated, and everyone who needs to access that file needs to have the same version. Just download and install the specified version and you will be able to get back into your file.

 

 

My Antivirus software is preventing the update from installing, what do I do?

Occasionally, some antivirus programs may misinterpret the installation of an AccountRight update as a malicious or viral program and attempt to block it. If you are receiving a message such as this, please make sure that you have downloaded the update from my.MYOB.

 

To overcome this message, assuming you have the correct download link, you will need to temporarily disable your antivirus software. If you aren’t sure or comfortable on how to do this, then please speak to your IT Professional. In addition you may want to discuss with them any implications of temporarily disabling your antivirus software.

Trying to upgrade online to 2016.3.  Error tells me my pc wont allow the app (windows 10).  Any ideas on what to do?

Welcome to the MYOB Community Forum, I hope you find it a great resource.

 

Are you able to clarify, when you say that your PC won’t allow the app, I am assuming you are getting the Windows popup asking if you would like the app to make changes to your PC. If you are receiving this popup are you able to click yes / allow?

 

If you having difficulty installing AccountRight, we do recommend ensuring that you are logging in with a Windows Administrator user and have disabled your antivirus and any other security software that you may have.

Thanks for the quick reply, my computer says '' This app cant run on your PC.  To find a version for your PC check with the software publisher''.  Sorry I am really new at MYOB and am still trying to learn!?

That’s ok, no need to be sorry as that’s why we are here. That particular error message is a Windows based error and can have a number of different causes. You can see some of these causes on this page, Fix: ’This app can’t run on your PC’ on Windows 10. As a number of the solutions mentioned on that page are more technical in nature, you may want to speak to your IT professional if you aren’t comfortable with the steps outlined on that page.

I am having trouble instaling the downloaded 2016.3 version...Trend is saying the file contains malicious software ...... re you saying that I need to turn my Trend virus OFF???

Hi @L-Mac

 

In some cases depending on your anti virus system and the settings it can think that the download link is suspicious and flag it as malicious software. If that is the case I would ensure that you have the correct download link. This can be downloaded from your my.MYOB account by selecting My Products>>Downloads after logging in. You may want to ensure that there are no updates available for your anti virus system to ensure that it is up to date.

 

If you are using getting that message I would be looking at temporarily disabling your anti virus for a short period of time, mostly allow for a 10 -15 minute of disabling, and then select to download that. You may want to speak to an IT specialist in regards to the implications of temporarily disabling your anti virus and do ensure that you turn it back on afterwards.

 

However in saying that I haven't encountered an anti virus program flagging an AccountRight 2016 download in the past,  provided its from my.MYOB and the system is up to date.

Once you have installed and upgraded your company file to AccountRight 2016.3, then you can uninstall your older version of AccountRight 2016.2 if you so want. If you wanted to keep AccountRight 2016.2 on your computer then you can do so, however it will take up space upon your computer and it may be confusing if you have multiple versions installed on your computer.
