Have an existing POS system, now looking to change over to MYOB Retail Manager. How easy or difficult is it to transfer data especially product descriptions, barcodes, stock on hand if fact all our product infor from our old system to RM, Or do we have to start from scratch and enter everything again, all 5000+ products

Hi SWlton,
It depends entirely on what you can get out of your old POS system, what is it BTW.
That said it might be worth you while to contact me directly as what I can do well exceeds what can be done with MYOB's RM import functionality and is likely to save you many hrs of pain.

What do you mean by BTW? Please explain a bit more of what you could do for us.

Hi SWlton,
BTW = By the way.
Depending on what the existing POS is and the extent of the information that can be digitally accessed either via text file exports or direct access to the data in the data file, I can extract that information, transform it into the formats needed by Retail Manager and bring that information into RM.
Unlike RM's import capabilities which are very limited, I, because I work directly with the RM database can do considerably more. So depending on your budget I could not only bring in basic Supplier, Customer and Stock info but I could also bring in things like outstanding purchase or sales orders and customer deposits.
In addition to this, because I have significant experience (30yrs) setting up accounting & POS systems I am in a position to provide you with advice on how to best set up & use RM for your business.
Cheers
