Are you a consultant of some kind, or a business owner that needs to ensure a professional image? A real estate agent, a naturopath, a lawyer... the list goes on. Hopefully this weeks tip will help you capture a great looking image, and if all else fails, you can always hire an expert. There are some great professional photographers out there. Just find one that you feel comfortable with.
People look good when they look relaxed.
Most of the time you will want to see someone in action rather than just facing straight on to the camera. Have some fun. If you are using a flash and movement is not a problem, ask them to suddenly turn towards the camera and engage with a happy expression. Ask your subject to start walking. Its a sure way to help someone look relaxed. Choose a plain wall for a background, but bring your subject forward, off the wall to avoid the appearance of shadows. This will also help keep the wall (and any marks on it) out of focus. And don't get too serious. Have fun. However, you may need to find a semi-serious expression (Depends on your business-What do you want to look like if you are a funeral director?).
Also, remember that your subject will reflect your mood, so don't look depressed. Don't hide behind the camera.
Good luck.
