We’ve been working hard to make AccountRight the fastest online accounting system out there, and if you’ve come along with us on this journey, thanks! While we know there's still more to do, we hope you like the improvements we've made in this release.

With this release we’ve focussed on speeding up the key tasks that’ve been slowing you down, and the results have blown us away. Throughout AccountRight you’ll experience fewer lags when moving around, lists display almost instantly, and transactions record faster.

Here's an example of how fast AccountRight 2013.3 really is:

Speed improvements

Here are some areas where you’ll notice big speed improvements from the moment you update:

  • Signing on to your online file (30% faster)
  • Synchronising your file
  • Checking in and out
  • Creating a sale (twice as fast)
  • Recording a customer payment
  • Settling a credit note
  • Creating a purchase (twice as fast)
  • Recording a supplier payment
  • Settling a debit note
  • Recording a Spend Money payment (40% faster)
  • Displaying a lengthy report (30% faster)
  • Filtering a report
  • Reconciling a bank account.

You’ll especially notice these improvements if you work online. We’ve carefully tweaked how your AccountRight software chats to our online servers, so now up to 65% less data gets pushed through the tubes. If you’re on a slow internet connection, you should see the biggest improvements. If you’ve held off working online because of the speed issues, hold off no more—learn how to get online (video).

Fixing the little things that mean a lot to you

For this update we’ve also addressed more of the things you’ve told us about on the Community Forum and face to face:

  • Easier bank recs: Bank feeds make reconciling easy, but if you’re still doing your bank recs manually, here’s a small tweak you’ll love: When you enter a bank statement transaction that’s missing from your company file (like interest or direct payments) they’ll now appear instantly in the list you’re reconciling—no need to refresh the list! And, if when reconciling you use the calendar to select the Bank Statement Date, all transactions up to the selected date now appear instantly—no tabbing required.
  • Easier date entry: Date fields no longer reset to the current month when you edit them, so there’s less risk of error when backdating transactions.
  • Big fonts? No problem: You can now use AccountRight on PCs that are set to display text and other items at 125% of the normal size.
  • Quicker report filtering: You can select more filters before you display reports, which can save lots of time.
  • Optimised report viewing: Reports display in a window optimised for your screen, so there’s less need to reposition and resize the window to get the information you need.
  • Retained PO numbers: If you’ve already chosen to keep your original purchase order number when converting a quote to an order or bill, the number will also be kept if you convert an order to a bill.

These are just some of the changes and fixes we’ve made in this release. If there’s something else you’d like us to improve, let us know on the AccountRight Idea Exchange.

Playing catch up

If you’re reading this from New Zealand, you’re probably wondering what happened to your 2013.2 update. That was a compliance release just for Australia, but we did make some non-compliance improvements in that update, which we’ve rolled into your 2013.3 release:

  • Whenever you open your company file, we’ll check for software updates you’re entitled to, and step you through downloading and installing them. It’s much easier—learn more.
  • Opening the Spend Money window is faster if you have many cards. It’s also faster to create a card from the Spend Money window.
  • Online file synchronisation is more stable, so you’ll encounter fewer sync issues.
  • AccountRight is now compatible with Microsoft Office 2013.

Version 15.0
  • Are you kidding? I swear upon everything that is sacred that I have NEVER experienced such a frustrating experience as the online version of MYOB.  Lets get to the latest experience of total timewasting.

Upgrade to the latest version of MYOB Account right Plus 2013.4 . Within the upgrade process it states would you like to delete the previous version - "RECOMMENDED".  (NOT A VERY GOOD IDEA!!) - the first thing it tells you after you have upgraded the program is "To use this company file with Account RIght Plus 2013.4 you need to upgrade it. To upgrade the file , check it in using Account RIght 2013.2 and then open it using the new account right version"   Some one has a VERY sick sense of humor.  Thanks MYOB - I am now dead in the water.

Some of us are busy, we like to spend our time producing accounts, not resolving issue after issue after issue.

    In frustration and despair, Jon.

  • Hi Jon, I'm sorry to hear that you've had some trouble with this upgrade.

The recommendation to uninstall previous versions is to prevent any library issues where an older version's library service can get in the way of the new one. As Mike pointed out we suggest that you check your file back in before doing any upgrades to avoid this situation. Getting you up and running though is something I would be happy to help with as best I can, please just send me a private message through the forum, by going to my profile and selecting the option on the right of the screen, and I can have a 2013.2 installer sent to you.

    Kind Regards,
    Matthew

  • I upgraded last week without any problems however now I can't see any reports, particularly payables and receiveable which I need today for end of month. Any ideas?

  • Just worked out the export to Excel button still works, so I have access to the info that way.

    Hi LynetteSmith,

Thank you for your posts. Glad to know that you are able to access the information by using the Export to Excel option. However you should also be able to use the 'Display Report' option within the program.

You may find our Support Note - 'No Information to display' in AccountRight reports has some information on resolving report generation issues. If this does not apply to you, could you please give us more information on the error message (if any) that you receive when running reports.

Please also confirm if your file is being accessed online, locally or from a Network Library and if you have similar issues in the sample company file Clearwater.

    Regards,

    Suja

  • There is no error message. When I click on Display Report, it opens another window, but I can't access it and it doesn't appear to have any data in it. Same thing happens when I click on Advanced Filters.

The data is in there and the date range selected has been checked.

The reports in Clearwater are working fine.

  • Hi LynetteSmith

Can you expand on "but I can't access it" i.e. is it greyed out or is it a very small window that you are unable to really see the information to access it.

Also is it all reports on with your company file i.e. does the Accounts>>Accounts>>Accounts List [Summary] report shows the same information? or the Sales>>Sales Register>>Sales Register Detail [All Sales] report.

You mentioned that you upgraded last week, can you confirm what the version number of the program is. This can be checked via Help>>About both the version and file version would be appreciated.

  • All working today with only a log off and log on in between. Thank you for your responses.
