Hi all,

It’s been another exciting seven days here at MYOB.

We were particularly thrilled to be formally recognised as one of Australia’s 50 most innovative companies for 2013.

The list is published in BRW and compiled by Melbourne-based innovation consultancy Inventium, who define innovation as “change that adds value”. It’s a mantra that MYOB is determined to deliver – helping make business life easier.

Inventium Founder Dr Amantha Imber says all 50 companies on the list are “clearly serious about innovation”. “These organisations have leaders who treat innovation seriously, as opposed to just paying lip service to it,” she says. “And they are clearly resourcing innovation, and protecting innovation budgets.”

The Top 50 list was revealed just a couple of days after MYOB’s win in the Ford Hack-A-Thon. Our tireless team created what is thought to be a world’s first: a car that manages your jobs on the go and integrates into your accounting software to send invoices and payments after the job is done.

By connecting an iPhone or iPad to a Ford car, the driver can ask the car for the address of the current job, load directions to the address, call up the customer, close the job, update AccountRight Live and send an invoice to the customer. The system also updates jobs as requests come in.

This concept is exciting for businesses with a mobile workforce, with endless possibilities. It could be particularly relevant for tradies who are out and about attending to jobs or bookkeepers frequently visiting clients.

You can read Keran McKenzie’s account of the 24 hours at the MYOBAPI blog.

Our leading contributors this week were CloudMindAcc, The_Doc, ronatbas and Julie_A_C.

Kudos also to DebraAnderson who had the most popular idea of the week, while CloudMindAcc, PHalls, TonyLane and The_Doc all had multiple posts marked as solutions.

Thank you so much to all those community members who generously shared their knowledge and expertise on the Community Forum this week.
