Bulk import of item codes

HI,

 

When i try to bulk import description changes to the item codes I get the below message. Can you please advise workaround? 

 

Error -4077: You have sales for this item.

 

It will not let me update the description (I am not making any other changes to the item code eg prices etc)

    Just testing the export and import of items having the Item Description being updated as part of that import. With my AccountRight 2019.4 company file it did work as expected and updated those records.

     

    The only thing that I know that would make the item description not import would be if the field contained non-alpha-numeric characters.

    We do have a script that we can run over the company file that has been known to aid with that import error. If you would like to confirm the following information we can look into arranging for the necessary script to be run:

     

    Where the company file is stored i.e. online or local
    What the LAST FOUR DIGITS of the serial number is - Setup>>Company Information
    What is the company file ID - Help>>About AccountRight

    Thank you for confirming that information

     

    I've arranged for the necessary script to be run over the company file. I do recommend closing down and reopening the company file before attempting that import again.

    Hi, I have rerun import and there are no errors. However none of the descriptions have changed as expected? So whilst import did work, the records did not update. 

     

    I have selected "Updated existing Data" as well

    When I import a file to include description changes, there are no changes to the item details. There are no errors upon import. Is there a bug with this feature? Are we able to change descriptions using the import function?

    Hi _Conrad 

     

    What exactly are you updating with that import? The reason I ask this is that some clients do get confused with Item Name and Description. Item Name being the value that appears in the Profile tab of the Item whereas the Description appears in the Item Details tab>>Notes section.


    As such, if you have accidentally edited and imported the Description this would have updated the description of the item, not the Item Name. This does mean that when going to the Item Information window for that item the Item Name would not have updated whereas the Description has been updated.

    I am trying to update the item description (yes I am aware that this is on the Item Details tab. I have two columns, item number and item description. Once I import the file there are no errors, however no changes have been made to the item description

    Hi It looks like it is working now

     

    However the 4077 error is again appearing. I think it is now coming up against all new item codes created since you ran the last fix.

     

    Can you please run again? Do we have to keep requesting for this to be run each time we create a new item?

    Hi _Conrad 

     

    I've arranged for the script to be run for you. Do ensure that you close down and reopen that file before attempting that import again.

     

    Generally speaking, the script does impact previous items and thus new items should be able to be created successfully in the company file through the Items List.
