Inventory being expensed when items are built

We buy materials (Sand & Gravel) in tonnes but sell them in cubic meters. We use auto build to convert from tonnes into m3, for example 1.5 tonnes of gravel will make 1 cubic meter.

The issue we are having is that on some occasions an amount will go to our COGS expense account rather than the whole transaction being processed on the balance sheet. Example attached.

Hi JamoJ , I wonder if you use the Received Items process on purchases, and your purchase orders are not (always) priced?

I know that AccountRight creates adjustments (which are combined with the original purchase journal) similar to what you are seeing here on the autobuild inventory journal. These adjustments replicate the "cost of sale" adjustments that we saw in version 19.

So my theory is that the autobuild journals are creating purchase adjustments when stock costings are not yet considered final. Maybe the moderators will have more to say.
