Connection error is a different error and not related to the above error, please follow the instructions and troubleshooting steps on this Help Article Error:Connection error. I'd also recommend clearing your AccountRight cache.
Additionally, if you are processing a large payrun please try to record it for half the employees and check to see if that works.

Unfortunately it still did not work. At the end of payroll I pressed "record", it then gives you the notice to confirm that you want to record, I then press "record" again. After a while it tells me that the action has timed out. Once I press okay I receive the error message:
Unable to connect. Possible causes include:
- an issue with your internet connection
- the company file is being upgraded or restored
- The AccountRight Live service is undergoing maintenance
Please advise what I should do now. Thanks

Have tried all the fixes you provided below and still crashes. I even tried processing only one employee but still same problem.
I do find it strange that this is happening on the first payroll for FY23. I would have guessed that it is an issue with the new year rather than my server etc.
Please advise where to from here as I need to process payroll. Thanks.
