How to do STP finalisation after closing off the payroll year?
Hi,
I'm needing to do STP finalisation/group certificates for the 2018/2019 year. Unfortuantely on the 4th July I closed off the payroll year to do the weekly pays, not realising I had to do the STP finalisation first. The fact that you have to do the STP finalisation before you can continue on with payroll seems strange considering employers have until the 31st July to actually complete the finalisation.
Not thinking closing off the year would be an issue, we did not do a backup and now can't go and complete the STP finalisation.
I understand you can't go back a year, so need to know how we can complete this? Any help would be appreciated.
Don't worry i've learnt my lesson, I won't be doing anything anymore without doing backups!

I am happy to hear that you will make sure to take backups in the future. Unfortunately you will need a backup in order to do your finalisation. For next year you can take a Backup, roll over the year (if you need to process pays) and then Restore the backup whenever you are ready to do your finalisation.
