Reentering payroll information and adjusting pay periods backwards

We have recently had to backup myob from the end of June 2019 and reenter all July data.  This includes payroll which has been previously entered and paid.  How do I enter July's payroll again for the appropriate dates? Is there any way I can enter pay periods manually?  Any assistance appreciated.

  • Hi phrsl

When entering a payroll transaction in AccountRight you are given the pay period start and end dates along with a payment date. This is where you can enter the associated date values for that pay.

Generally speaking, the Payment Date is the only one the system cares about as it is that the date in which the system uses to record the transaction under. The pay period start and end dates do only play a part if you enter timesheets for your employees, otherwise, they are just pretty dates on the payslip.

Thanks Steven.  I did manage to figure out the dates down the bottom allowed me to change the payroll periods.

    Thank you for your reply

    Hi Gracy

The warning about the date is only there to reflect that the date entered is ahead of the system date on the computer. Its basically there to act as a reminder to double check the date to catch incorrect dates. For example if it’s the 12th of the month and the transaction date is recorded as the 21st this may be correct or it may be a mistake made when entering the date. If the date is correct on the transaction you can safely ignore that warning with no ill effects upon your file

    Hi Steven,

I saw your post with the payroll screenshot and have a query.  With the STP, we have to report before or on the day the payroll is paid.   Will it be a problem if we enter the payment date, say, 1 day ahead?

So, if the payroll is paid on the 15th of the month; can I process the payroll on the 14th but enter the payment date the "15th"? (In MYOB, there is a warning: "The data you have entered is after the current date, and may be in error").

As I work parttime, some days of the 15th are not my work day.

    Thank you.

    Grace

  • Hi Gracy

I'm probably not the best person to ask.  Maybe put your question as a post for the entire MYOB Community, I would hate to lead you in the wrong direction.

    Kind Regards

    HI Gracy

When you complete a pay run in AccountRight, this creates an update event to be reported to the ATO. This update event needs to be reported on or before the payment date of that payroll. Typically the information recorded would need to be correct in all aspects. So if the payroll was going to be paid on the 15th of the month, this would be the payment date you would need to enter in

    Hi Neil,

I processed the payroll yesterday (i.e. on the 14th) but I put the payment date on the 15th (real date for payroll payment).  As yesterday was the 14th, in MYOB there is a WARNING message that the data may be in error  Is the way I did my payroll will really create problem in the future?

For your note, I did also lodge to ATO  after the payroll processing and it went through fine.

    Thank you.
