I'm just wondering about the future of Account Edge?Will this product continue to be supported by MYOB?Will we get the necessary tax table updates for the upcoming new financial year?Is there an alternative product being developed? Hi SMM We currently don't have any further information with regards to whether a tax table update will be available for AccountEdge. More information will be posted when that information does come to hand.

Hi smm, from certain MYOB staff who are in a position to know for sure, received today: "We have clarified with our support and social (community forum) teams that we will be continuing to support AccountEdge for the foreseeable future and will be releasing compliance updates as part of this support. We will not be supporting AccountEdge on MAC OS Catalina however. Sorry for the confusion, clients contacting MYOB will get the correct message going forward."

Hi SMM Due to significant changes in the databases, an AccountEdge company file is not able to be migrated across to AccountRight. Should you be looking into that the recommendation would be to take a copy of your card and accounts balances as that a set date. You then enter that balance information within a new AccountRight company file via Setup>>Balances or through the Easy Setup Assistant. In terms of Payroll and employee cards, it does depend on the date you set what to move the data across as at. If you are looking at doing at the start of the payroll year you would just need to set up the employee cards. If you are completing the process in the middle of the payroll year, you would be looking at zeroing out the pay history of the employees within AccountEdge. You would need to process an update event in AccountEdge to reflect the ATO that the pay information for that year has been zeroed out. Once that has been actioned, re-enter the year-to-date information on the employees' card in the Pay History section of the employee's card and then file your first pay with Payroll Reporting within that version - this will pull the historical information and that pay information through to the ATO. You can process an update event in AccountEdge like this: Go to Payroll > Payroll Reporting. Click Create Update Event. In the Type field, select Update Event. Click Create Update Event. Select all employees. Enter the name of the Authorised Sender. Click Send to ATO. Click Close.

Hi SMM , Steven_M , I am advised by senior MYOB staff that there definitely WILL be compliance updates for AccountEdge (running on OSX Mojave or other compatible operating systems) for the foreseeable future. If this could be confirmed on this thread, then you can safely continue with your existing AccountEdge program, just not on Catalina (unless you have gone down the VM route). For anyone who might still want to change to AccountRight, there is another conversion option, PM me for details. remember though that there are features in AccountEdge which don't exist in AccountRight (eg departments, serial number tracking), so those functions and data would be lost.

Hi Hel Backing up is a separate issue. If you have any version of AccountEdge on Mojave you should be able to backup. There are some things that prevent backup however these are usually based on settings on your computer rather than the application AccountEdge. For example if you don't have write permission or you use a long path or a long file name. Try to backup your file as test.zip to your desktop and see if that works. Desktop does not have permission issues and a short path and short file name should ensure this works. If it does, then experiment with other locations. File name should not exceed 32 characters and path and file name should not exceed 255 characters. RegardsGavin

Unfortunately, in light of the recent announcement regarding Catalina, we don’t expect a new release for AccountEdge in the immediate future with a compliance release for this payroll year still being investigated. We'll have more information on that situation closer to the end of the payroll year.

In saying that, AccountEdge will continue to operate with all its current functionalities on the Mojave operating system for the foreseeable future.

  Hi,
  I've just upgraded to Catalina 10.15.5 and then discovered i cant use my AccountEdge Basic v5 software. A warning comes up saying "the developer of this app needs to update it to work with this version of macOS. Contact the developer for more information". OMG. What do i do because it looks like the developer is not updating the software for this OS? How do i access my data to do my end of year finances this week? I have 12mths of data in the system. How do i access it and what accounting system can i migrate to? Please advise asap. Thanks.

    AccountEdge will still work, just not on Catalina. You will need to find an alternate solution, for example getting hold of another mac that uses a different operating system and transfer the files across, or use VM Ware or Parallels to run Mojave on a partition, or get the file converted to AccountRight so you can use on a PC. These and other options can be found repeated numerous times if you look at some of the forum posts on this topic on the forum. There is not easy solution.

    AccountEdge will receive a compliance update, AccountEdge v18.6, later this month - typically last week on June. Note: This will NOT be Catalina compliant, being Mojave or below compatible.

  We could access this via Parallels on the mac.
  What's the process for migration if any and costs involved please?

Should you wish to consider moving to AccountRight we do recommend setting a date in your AccountEdge company file to get the customer, supplier and account balances as at. You would then create a company file in AccountRight before entering that information via Setup>>Balances or the Easy Setup Assistant.
