Offline desktop

So what MYOB said would never happen is now going to !!

From 17 June 2026 AccountRight desktop is being phased out.

You have to be joking MYOB - 9 days before the end of the 2026 financial year, and between now and then bookkeepers and accountants have to convince their clients to upload their files online.

What do you suggest we tell clients who don't have internet access and those who refuse to work online.  At least on the desktop if the internet goes down (your end or theirs) they can still keep their businesses going

  • Hi GEB

This decision by MYOB is going to prove disastrous for many users. If nothing else, I would suggest you advise your clients with offline files to 'STOP' MYOB's monthly updates. If not sure how, get in touch with FGH Tables, they can stop the updates. This may only be a temp solution, but it will buy some time at this critical stage of the financial year.

Stopping updates will also mean tax table updates might not be available, however if your clients are offline and use payroll, they likely already have other payroll related solutions.

    Regards

    Gavin

We have several clients that have very dodgy internet access and so prefer to use MYOB offline (they also purchased AccountRight V14 outright).  Why is MYOB penalising so many of their legacy clients and those not in a position to have continuous online access?

    Hi AmandaMYOB

So this is very problematic for us. We have a few offline only files (not big but needed), so you are saying to access them in any way after 17 Jun we need to buy licenses for each one? Is that another AccountRIght  Plus subscription so I can just get two more files online, and so on? Can I get those files into one of your cheaper plans (like Lite?)

Also, we use offline files for testing our integrations between our systems and MYOB. This is what the Clearwater file is very useful for. We CANNOT populate our real files with test data if online files are the only ones available, and we aren't certainly going to buy a license just for testing. So does that also mean there's no test file like Clearwater anymore to test and play around in?

    Regards

    Damien

    Hey CCI

A way to view previous backed up files would be to take an online backup of your current file. Once done you'll be able to restore an older backup over the top of your live file. After you've finished retrieving information from the older backup, you can restore your current file back to your online environment. Our support team are always available to help you understand the available options if you have further questions. Cheers, Amanda.

    Hi AmandaMYOB

I have 4x online company files, with an active subscription, and multiple offline company files under our very old serial number.  Does this mean all my multiple offline files will have to go online?

Will we be receiving correspondence from MYOB direct about this or is it online somewhere?

    Hey GEB

From MYOB AccountRight version 2026.5 (PC edition), your clients will no longer be able to open, edit or save files stored locally (in My Library or Network Library).

To continue to use MYOB AccountRight with support and updates, your clients will need an active MYOB AccountRight subscription with an online company file.

    Hi Amanda

please clarify for me that my clients - should they so chose, can still keep working on their data files that are currently in "my library" on their computers and they don't have to upload their data files online. Also, what is meant by "need to be online to receive product and security updates"

What happens if they choose not to upload their files, are currently on AccountRight 2026.3.0 and you release a new version and retire 2026.3.0

    Hey GEB

The desktop version will still exist, we are phasing out offline desktop functionality. Your company file will need to be online to receive product and security updates, support, and online services.
