Exporting reports to Excel not working

Hi, i use Accountright Basics and Excel 2019

I get an error message when exporting to excel (attached) for any report i try and run.
XXXX cannot be accessed. The file may be corrupted, on a server that is not responding, or read only.

I have has this issue for a while, and last reporting period i ended up manually typing in the data to excel as I just could not get the data from out of Myob

Is Accountright compatible with Excel 2019?

I have reinstalled Myob and Excel multiple times but this hasnt fixed it,  the report templates are in the   AppData\Local\Programs\MYOB\AccountRight\app-2025.100.10009\Reports\Spreadsheet folder and i can open them fine by clicking on them directly.
I changed office to 32 bit and that didnt help.

Any ideas?  Thanks

    Hi marlonnz,

So far, we haven't heard of any issues with exporting to Excel. The error usually means the template file is missing or corrupted. Try giving AccountRight a reinstall to bring back the default Excel templates. Ensure to temporarily turn off any antivirus software and run the installer as an admin to dodge any setup glitches. If that doesn’t do the trick, check out our previous message in this thread for all the handy workarounds to fix the error.

    Cheers,

    Princess

    Hi ElleMC,

Since none of the steps from the link we shared are working, I suggest you document all the steps you've tried along with the specific issues you're facing. Take screenshots or capture the error messages. Then, give our support team a call using the number on this link. It's best to have an IT person with you when you do this.

    Cheers,

    Princess

Hi, i have repaired and reinstalled multiple times.  It has not helped.
I cant use the support services as i am on accountright basics.

This really shouldnt be this difficult.  The templates are there, where they should be
If completely reinstalling both products doesnt fix the issue then i am at a loss.
I tried the 32 bit office suite, i changed all the permissions etc
I am not an IT expert but this product should be simple to use for the average business person surely?

Is there something in your coding which means the company file has to be in a specific location to find the report templates or something?
To be honest - after having to manually enter all my reports into excel last year - and now i am having to do it again, this will be my last year of using MYOB

    Hi ElleMC,

Thanks for your patience while trying different methods like switching to Office 32-bit. We found another solution that might help with your exporting issues. Check out the detailed instructions here. If this one doesn’t work either, or if none of the other forum suggestions help, our friendly live chat agents can assist you further through our virtual assistant MOCA.

    Cheers,

    MYOB

  • Hi, thanks for the reply, i tried changing to Office 32 bit already and that didnt help.
I have tried all the obvious solution after spending hours researching this

Tried raising a support ticked but apparantly i cant as my account only allows account queries to be raised.

So i am stuck with a product i cant use or get help on?

    Hey ElleMC,

Thanks for confirming that the files are on your computer and not read-only! The next thing to check it whether your version of Microsoft Excel is compatible with AccountRight— it needs to be the 32-bit version to work properly. If that's all good and it's still not playing nice, the best bet would be to reach out to out to our support team directly on Live Chat via our virtual assistant, MOCA, or by submitting a support case via MyAccount.

    Cheers,

    Doreen

    Hi ElleMC

The error message in your screenshot means that the chkbkreg.xlt file can’t be accessed on the computer you're using to generate the report. You'll need to check if the file is there and if you have access to it. This link might help you understand and fix the error message you're seeing.

    Regards,
    Genreve
