How do I change ownership of my own file
I've just been alerted by a friend of mine that I am not the onwner of my own personal MYOB Essentials file.
A few years ago, my accountant retired and sold his practice to another accountant that I didn't want to work with.
Two of the staff at my old accountant's office went out on their own and I gave them both access to my file as they were doing my tax.
The accountant of the new partnership has now sold out to the accountant that the previous accountant sold to.
The bookkeeper of the partnership has just informed me that I'm not the owner of my own MYOB file and I'm only listed as an advisor on it.
When the old accountant retired he transferred all of his clients over to the new accountant and it seems they have taken over ownership of my MYOB file.
Whenever I speak to my partner manager, she can never see my personal file and I guess this answers why she can't.
How can I change the ownership of the file back to myself?
I've tried deleting them but because I'm only an advisor on my own file, I can't take back ownership.
I'm really peeved about this as I have never given this accountant permission to view my file let alone take over ownership of it.
Hi RhondaMP,
That's totally not fair and you've got every reason to feel annoyed about it. No one wants their file ownership to changed without their knowledge. No worries, we’re here to help you sort it out and fix things up. You can totally take back the ownership of the file by filling out a change of details form. You'll need to complete the form, send it back to our team via email, and we’ll take care of the rest for you.
Cheers,
Princess
