BAS

When does BAS activity statement go from 'in progress' to lodged ? I alway have difficulty finding the printout that you have to sign. Bring back the old MYOB :(

  • Hi Mau,

Thanks for checking in here! Totally fair, you were more into the old way of doing your BAS. The upside with the new setup is you don’t need to sign anything anymore, BAS reporting is now lodged automatically online. When the BAS status shows "In progress", it just means you’ve opened your activity statement and started making changes.

This link has more detail on the different BAS statuses and the lodging process. If you scroll down to the FAQ section, it explains what each status means and when it changes.

    Cheers,

    Princess

    Princess,

Does MYOB allow a lodged BAS to be printed?

I send Business Owners a printout of the lodged BAS (from ATO Online Services).

The ATO printout has a BPAY and shows the Balance owing after lodgement.

The Balance owing is important as a Business Owner may prepay the BAS or some may have a Payment Arrangement with the ATO.

    Hi DuncanS,

Totally get why that ATO-style printout is handy, especially with the BPAY details and that final balance owing sitting nice and clear for your clients. At this stage, MYOB doesn't generate a "lodged BAS" printout that matches what you get from ATO Online Services. Once the BAS is lodged through MYOB, we don't produce that official-looking summary with BPAY and the post-lodgement balance. What you can do in the meantime is:

    • Print or save the BAS/IAS report from MYOB before or after lodging (good for the figures and breakdown)
    • Then grab the official lodged BAS statement from ATO Online Services, which is exactly what you're already doing for that balance owing and BPAY info

So yeah, bit of a two-step process at the moment. MYOB for the numbers, ATO for the "final notice" style doc.

    Regards,

    Sai
