Payday Super

Hi all,

Our pay week ends C.O.B each Sunday and I prepare our payroll every Monday and change the Pay Date to the following Thursday.

This gives our employees a pay slip to check for any possible errors and if needed, their pay can be adjusted before payment is processed.

When Payday Super is active, will the Super payment be automatically paid on the Monday that the pay is prepared or on the Thursday when the pay is actually paid to the employee?

Thanks in advance for any information.

Cheers Billingsley

  • Hi Billingsley15,

That's a tricky one! When Payday Super comes in, super won’t be automatically paid when you prepare the pay on Monday. MYOB uses the Pay Date on the pay run (in your case, Thursday) as the official date for super.

    Regards,
    Earl

    Hi dwy0001

Sorry for the confusion. Payday Super doesn’t make Pay Super fire off automatically when you finish the pay run. You’ll still need to jump into Super payments after each run to submit/authorise the Pay Super batch, and as long as that’s done within 7 business days of the pay date, you’ll meet the Payday Super rules.

  • Thanks Genreve. Just to clarify, from 1 July 2026, will Pay Super automatically make payment into the relevant employees fund as per the amount processed each pay run, or will I still have to login to Pay Super after each pay run to make payment? Ideally, it would be good if the run completion automatically links with Pay Super rather than having to do the extra step (if that makes sense).

    Hi dwy0001

Great question, there’s no separate Payday Super switch you need to toggle. You can start paying super every pay run now by using Pay Super each time you process payroll. From 1 July 2026, the software will automatically align with the Payday Super rules, so there’s no extra setting to turn on.

You can read through this link if you're keen to know more about how the change affects the software.

    Regards,
    Genreve

  • I currently use the PaySuper Clearing House to pay super quarterly. Is there a setting I can change to start using payday super now with every payrun, or will this automatically switch over from 1 July? I’d prefer to activate payday super now to ensure everything works smoothly. If this can be done now, please let me know.

    Hi jge,

Thanks for coming back and for also popping this on the Ideas Exchange.

You’re spot on, with the current Payday Super setup, there isn’t a way to choose a future super payment date, which can mean super would go out before payday if you process in advance over shutdown periods. Your Idea post here sums that up really clearly and is now logged with our product team for review:
    https://community.myob.com/idea/myob-business-ideasexchange/payday-super---being-able-to-choose-date-of-payment/910892

For now, the only way to avoid being paid early is to hold off authorising the Payday Super batch until the date you want it processed, or have someone with access authorise it on that day. We’ll keep using the votes and comments on your Idea to help guide any future changes in this space.

    Cheers,
    Genreve

Hi Doreen - I have just raised this as an issue.  Over the Christmas shutdown period I do not want to have to login to pay super during our break.  We need to have the ability to choose a future payment date for super once Payday super comes in.  Otherwise I could have the situation where super is paid before payday!

    Hey MOTIVATED,

If a future date is entered on the pay run, the super payment will still go through on the day you authorise it, not the EFT date. So yes, if you’re processing payroll ahead of time, you’ll need to pop back to the super payment when you’re ready to authorise and pay it.

    Cheers,

    Doreen

    Hi Earl,

I had the same question as Billingsley15 and this makes sense to me also.

But in searching, found another person was provided 3 links in relation to the setup of Payday super

    by SupportNoteGuy MYOB Staff.

One Link: "Make Super Payments" states the following:

No. The superannuation payment will be processed once it has been authorised. If you enter a future date in the Date field of the Pay Superannuation window, but authorise the payment today, it will be processed today.

So querying, if payroll processed in advance with a future EFT date and authorise the payment, that super will be actually processed that day instead of the date of EFT?

Would you then process the pay in advance and have to go back to authorise when ready to pay?

    Regards Deb

    Hi Earl,
    Thanks for the prompt reply.
That's what I was expecting and it makes sense.
