Employment Leave Act 2026?

Hi, just wondering what everyone (including MYOB) is doing now to prepare for the Employment Leave Act 2026.

  • We are reviewing our agreements at a high level, but waiting until after the election before commencing any union discussion or system design. Have you seen the MBIE timelines -

  • Hi Haylie1,

    Great question.

MYOB has released a blog post about the Employee Leave Act 2026 change. Under the Transition considerations area it does direct readers to the Employment New Zealand website which includes information regarding how to get ready for the change.

    Regards

    Hi Haylie1,

Planning ahead for this is a smart move. The changes are outlined here: Holiday pay changes become law: All you need to know. There’s a 24-month implementation period before the new system takes effect, so the current rules continue in the meantime. We don’t have any MYOB-specific guidance or timeline to share yet, but we’ll provide updates when more information is available.

    Cheers,

    Doreen

Thanks Doreen, I attended a seminar on it yesterday and one of the things it said to do now was to ask your payroll provider what their timeline looked like/how testing would be done etc.
