Secure Invoicing Options

Has MYOB come up with a solution regarding secure invoicing?

We do not want to sign up or register. We are not even using bank feeds.

I was advised we had to register for secure invoicing then opt out.

This should be an opt in feature not opt out. People are having issues opting out after registering.

The accounts manager wont register, I am currently emailing invoices in PDF from outlook.

Anyone got a solution?

'Upgrading is super straightforward' really.................................having to locate (from directors / accountants...) company documents, ID of directors(!) who may or may not be in the same location / city / state get them all certified by 3rd party, upload to (what I understand) is a 3rd party to verify (note recent Qantas hack), provide cash flow when you have NO INTENTION of allowing MYOB to charge 1.8% + 25c on payments of your invoices therefore there is no requirement to check your viability for charge backs. Surely given the massive amount of comments, feedback, questions, angst, anger and loss of clients MYOB could at the very least, change this to an 'Opt in' option - I would then argue for our company to proceed but at the moment the strong message is steer clear of this heavy handed change and research new software - HELP!!!

Upgrading is straightforward if you are prepared to submit documents to a 3rd party, far above what's needed for just opening the bank account.

For our business and a lot of others here, when we are in the desktop application and click "Send To" then "Email...", the program is creating and "downloading" a pdf, calling Outlook (or the default email program) using the mailto functionality and inserting the file in an email and populating it with pre-filled text.

AccountRight on the desktop does not contain a native MailTo function or SMTP configuration, so it relies on the user's separate email program to complete the process. As such, it is extremely difficult to see this as ANYTHING but MYOB artificially crippling local functionality in an effort to force compliance.

I mean, your reply and MYOB's official documents detail how to get around the touted "protocols" by manually downloading, so the narrative just isn't gelling here.

We have actually completed the verification process and all of a sudden I cannot email invoices. Getting a message saying we need to complete the verification. Am now having to print each invoice to PDF and send out manual emails. Cannot find anyone to speak to about this MAJOR problem. Pretty pathetic customer service

The only reason we have not switched to Xero is because I can track job costs with MYOB.

    Hi DJPWA,

Thanks so much for your feedback! We know the recent invoicing changes can be a bit tricky, especially if you don’t use MYOB payments.

We understand how important it is for your business to have seamless invoice emailing capabilities without additional burdens. Please allow us to clarify that these adjustments to our invoicing process stem from our strong commitment to ensuring security and compliance with the highest standards. As cyber threats increase, safeguarding sensitive financial information is paramount—not only for MYOB, but also for all businesses relying on our services. Secure invoicing and adherence to new protocols help protect your business and customer data from vulnerabilities.

    Why we're making this change
Cybercrime costs Australian small businesses an estimated $300 million every year, and invoicing scams targeting small businesses are increasing in frequency, sophistication and impact. We’re upgrading the invoice experience to enhance the security of our platform for the benefit of everyone who uses it, including our valued partners, clients and customers, and the customers who pay their invoices. We want to work together to educate clients on the risks of invoice fraud and other scams and support them in adopting business verification as a means to building a safer payment ecosystem.

What happens if I do not complete the business verification process
The secure distribution system is only available to verified businesses. If verification is not completed by specified deadlines, functionality for sharing and distributing invoices may be restricted. Specifically, the email, copy link and SMS options for invoice sharing will be disabled, and invoices will need to be downloaded and emailed manually until the business has been verified.

Upgrading is super straightforward. Just send in your initial application, upload the required documents, and get verified. You’ll still have access to your invoicing features throughout each step, so you can keep things running smoothly while your verification is being processed.

    Regards,
    Earl

    Hi Grantk,

Thanks for sharing what’s been going on. It must've been a hassle having to send invoices by hand. Your secure invoicing application's still getting its final tick of approval, so it isn’t verified yet. Keep an eye on your inbox for any updates. As soon as things are sorted, you’ll be able to fire off invoices straight from MYOB again.

    Cheers,

    Doreen
