Unable to change incorrectly entered conversion date

Hello, I have discovered like many others on this forum that the conversion date is unable to be changed, is MYOB looking into rectifying this, it seems it causes many users a problem.  Currently I have a client who attempted to create a new data file and has put the incorrect conversion date 1 month from now so I am unable to enter anything prior to this date.  Can MYOB go in an change it for us?  If not then I can create a new data file but I will need assistance to move the bank feeds over to the new data file that have been setup to the existing data file that shows the incorrect date

Re: Unable to change incorrectly entered conversion date

Hi @TanyaM

Welcome to the MYOB Community Forum, I hope you find it a wealth of knowledge

When creating the company file using the New Company File Assistant the user will be required to set a conversion month. This would generally be the month that you first wanted to enter the transactions from. Once that company file has been created i.e. you have completed the New Company File Assistant, this is date is set and is unable to be changed.

If you have set the incorrect month as the conversion month you would be looking at creating a new company file with the correct conversion month. If you have already activated that company file we may need to deactivate that original (incorrect) file. As we do need to confirm some details to arrange for that, can you send me the serial number of that company file via Forum private message and I would be happy to assist with that process for you.

Kind Regards,
Steven

Re: Unable to change incorrectly entered conversion date

Yes we do understand the user is required to set a conversion month but it would be very helpful if MYOB could allow this date to be changed when someone sets it up with the wrong date. I have encountered this through a number of my clients and see many different people posting about it in the forum, it's creating a lot of people rework with as the date is unable to be changed.  If there is no possible way for MYOB to make this date be changed in the program in future, then perhaps you could incorporate more warning messages (like the EOFY rollover messages) advising that it's very importate that this date is correct as it cannot ever be changed after clicking next and to consult your bookkeeper or accountant first.

Have PM'd you to deactivate that original (incorrect) file and move the bank feeds over to the newly created (correct) file.

Thanks

Re: Unable to change incorrectly entered conversion date

Hi @TanyaMc

I have just replied to your private message requesting additional information into the company files to arrange for the next stage in the process to occur.

In terms of having a warning on screen in regards to the conversion month, to my knowledge, it is not something that we are actively looking into for updates of the program. In saying that the Help Article: Create a company file, which is the one accessed by selecting Help on this Window,  does offer a warning in regards to setting that conversion month.

Re: Unable to change incorrectly entered conversion date

Huh? I set up a new file as we just purchased the software.  I put in date as 1/1/18 because our financial year is Jan-December.  Our bookkeeper has set up accounts and now it states the rollover date inputted was 31/1/18.  As if I would put that in.

Research like this shows now I will have to delete the online account and set up a new online account so I need to arrange this urgently.

This is a volunteer position as I am the President of a P&C Association and I have to go to work for a living which is unrelated to this query.  I dont have much access to this computer through the day so how do we make this happen?

I have seen from your account that you have contacted our phone-based support team who have assisted in removing that incorrect company file from the cloud and arranging for the correct file to be uploaded.

If you do require future assistance don't hesitate to post on the Forum again.

Re: Unable to change incorrectly entered conversion date

Hi Steve_M

I have a problem with my conversion date.

Thinking that I could put a date way back I have entered 01/08/2016.

But I am looking to set up a file that is currently active and as I type is still getting June details entered as well as payments being made for June accounts (this is into a different accounting software file ie not MYOB)

But now when I am looking to enter opening balances I realise the conversion date is ridiculous.

I am currently on hold with MYOB and have over an hour to wait.

I have a second file to set up with a conversuion date of 01/07/2017 which is also an active file.

So what joy a double up issue!

Anyway I understand that I will have to get the files deavitvated and hoping that you can assist me in this process?

Thank you for your consideration in this matter. Michelle

Re: Unable to change incorrectly entered conversion date

Hi @MichelleS_ECO

Once a company file has been created, the conversion date is set and is unable to be changed. If that is required to be changed you would be looking at creating a new company file with the correct conversion date. I have sent you a private message on the Forum to arrange for the company file to be deactivated so a new file can be created.
