Unable to email sales invoices from1 of 3 computers repeated error System.InvalidCastException

Hi All

One of our computers is unable to email sales invoices.  Everytime the error log shows System.InvalidCastException

We are all running 2022.6.24.6864.

This computer is also unable to export to excel (the others are) - just nothing happens, no error message.

All computers are running Microsoft 365.  The "problem" computer is running Office 11, 64 bit.  The others are running Office 10, 32 bit.

Can anyone help?  Have tried resetting to 32 bit but this caused Outlook to be "lost".

Hi @Trushka , AccountRight can only communicate with the 32-bit version of Office.

Thanks Mike.  Does this also explain the inability to export to excel?  No error report, just nothing happens.  Although given no error report and I think this may have happened before the laptop was replaced with a new Windows 11 laptop so there may be another factor.

Hello @Trushka

Normally when you are unable to export to excel it means that the Windows permissions need to be the same between Excel and AccountRight to ensure that the information gets exported across. If clicking Export to Excel doesn’t send the information through then it could be caused by a permissions imbalance.

Please close AccountRight before right-clicking on the AccountRight desktop icon and choosing Run as Administrator. This will run AccountRight with full Windows Administrator permissions so it should allow the export to go through.

If the export does go through when running AccountRight as a Windows Administrator, but not normally then AccountRight will need to be reinstalled with full Windows Administrator permissions by right-clicking on the installer and choosing “Run as Administrator”

Please let me know how this goes.

Kind regards,
Chris

Re: Unable to email sales invoices from1 of 3 computers repeated error System.InvalidCastException

Hi Mike

Sorry, running as administrator did not help. So I passed it onto my IT people who said:

So to make it work you must be running Office 365 32 Bit version of office.

Once that is installed it will send invoices by email and reports will export to excel.

In your case we could not get outlook to run when office 365 64bit was uninstalled and we installed office 32bit.

So we used the Microsoft Office removal tool to remove all traces of Office 365. Then installed office 365 32bit again.

Regards

@Trushka
