Online Payments: Credit Card Surcharge

I have looked through posts dating back to 2012 and beyond where people have been requesting the ability to have MYOB automatically calculate and (where applicable) add a surcharge for Credit Card payments.

I have the PayDirect device and need to re-issue an invoice to manually add an extra line for a surcharge to the invoice while the customer is with me.

Now that PayDirect Online has been released, a customer has the ability to pay an invoice with their credit card at their leisure, but I end up being charged for it without the customer even being aware. I have phoned customer service and was informed that there is currently no way of automatically adding the surcharge and the system doesn't do it. I am currenlty on the screen to setup PayDirect Online so have not tested it myself. The advice of customer service was to increase my fees to cover the surcharge. Not really fair on people who are not paying by card.

Personally, I would have thought this is something that should have been written into the software prior to releasing the Online component, or should be an option included in the online section that adds the surcharge to the final total prior to the customer paying.

Following on from our early adopter's program, with the release of AccountRight 2020.4 we have introduced the ability for users to pass on credit card surcharge for online invoice payments. Customer surcharging for online payments has more information on this topic and getting started with that.

Once again, thank you for your support and your patience for this long-awaited feature.

DEFINITELY required.

 

Many of us can't afford to absorb credit card fees on our products, particularly those who are not a "retail" business.

 

P.S. - Please expedite this. People have been asking for this since 2012?!?!?!?

 

It seems that MYOB's prices go up a lot faster than it's services are improved...

We are waiting for the day when the surcharges can be charged on to those that choose to use Credit Card.  Once this option is available we will be signing straight up for online payments.

A thought is to  re-configured an invoice and change the freight to say card charge and enter the  credit card fee in there.  With a note beside it saying to deduct this fee if paying by cheque or cash.  Will then deal with the invoice later if someone pays by cheque or cash???????

I can not use pay direct at all until the credit card fees are added automatically. Im not sure why you would not add this feature before its release. Its rather useless.

We all agree, and I wont be implementing this either until it is an option, but has myob confirmed yet anywhere to say they will add this?

I may use PayDirect very selectively for the odd customer but I can't afford to offer the service to the majority of our customers unless I can pass on the fee. I suspect there are numerous businesses in the same situation so PayDirect is stifling its own growth by not making this feature available

I have recently signed up to Pay Direct and I make the following comments :-

 

1. It is dissappointing to note that the transaction fee has increased to 2.2%. Opposition offerings are a low as 1.65%.

2. There is no way to offset this fee with a surcharge. The only thing I can think of is to charge everyone extra and offer a discount for Non Credit card payments. This is a very unsatisfactory process so I would appreciate any suggestions as to alternative ways can get around this problem. I doubt if I am the only person to experience it.

3. My idea would be to allow for some sort of automated respopnse which adds a fee if a client enters a CC. Many other online purchase sites do this.

Best way around this is to not offer credit card payments. I dont but i provide direct bank account details on my invoices. Must customers either pay via direct credit to my account on the spot or within a couple of days.
