Be able to add a payroll category to an employee and put time against it whilst in the middle of a payrun.

 

You can currently add the category to the employee card but the card is not made available until you either exit and restart the payrun or finish the payrun minus that employee then do a second pay run.

 

This would save time and is more logical than having to exclude an employee and restart the pay process.

One of the payroll improvements released in AccountRight 2014.1 was the ability to add in the payroll category mid pay run via the Add Payroll Category button top of the Pay Employee window. For more information please see AccountRight 2014.1 now available

Hi Stephen,

 

Can you please confirm the original issue of actually being able to use the category once it's created during the payrun has been resolved? It's not clear from your comment whether that's the case.

I interpreted your original idea based on the fact that category was already created in the system prior to starting the payroll process, as this was not directly mentioned only the fact that you can currently add the category to the employee's card  (which is something that could be done prior to the use of AccountRight 2014.1). 

If that is the case, this has been something that we have implemented by the use of the Add a Payroll Category button in the Pay Employee window with the release of the AccountRight 2014.1 program.

From my recollection, whilst a button had been brought in, it didn't allow you to use the payroll category without restarting the payrun.

 

I just checked in 2015.4 and it appears that when you click the button now, the category is immediately available in the payrun which is great news.
