2 FA Authentication

Hi MYOB Community

I have an Account Right login as Administratior. the 2FA memory for 30 days seems to work for me and I have no problems.

HOWEVER, my assistant uses the same computer as me and I have given her her own login. When she logs in the 2 FA requirement comes up every time .... ie the 30 day memory does not apply. She then has to log in as me to get the 2FA code on my email. This is not making me very happy. I want the MYOB login to remember her code and allow her to log in for 30 days without being hassled by the 2FA every time she logs in. I also want the code to be sent to her email address when she tries to log in. ie I want my login to be separate and secure. AND I want her login and 2 FA to be separate and secure for her.

Thank you for your post. Two factor authentication is an easy and practical way to increase security for you and your online data.  To comply with new industry standards and the guidelines set by the ATO  we will be enabling two-factor authentication for all online users by  31st Dec 2018.

 

We understand this means a change in the way you’ve been accessing your files, so have plenty of information available to make this an easy transition for you:

Meanwhile, if you feel that you needed to reset your 2FA to be able to change the method of receiving the code, we will be needing to gather some information to check you account. To further assist you with this, kindly send me a private message with the following details:

 

  • Serial number
  • Name of primary contact and email address
  • Business name
  • Email address using 2FA

 I don’t need all the blurb on why 2FA is important. I accept that and have been using 2FA for a number of my clients since it was introduced.

 

I need solutions to the following 3 issues:

  1. Facts and Background:
    1. I have an assistant who uses my desktop on days when I am not in office.
    2. She logs in to Microsoft desktop as herself so she gets all her own emails.
    3. She uses MYOB as herself, under her own login.
    4. 2FA works for me for a period of 30 days no problems
    5. 2FA does not work for her even though she ticks the 30 day box.
    6. She has to request a 2FA code when she logs in.
    7. She has to close her Microsoft login to the desktop. Log in as me and access my emails so that she can get the 2FA code which is sent to my address.
    8. WHY IS THE CODE SENT TO MY EMAIL ADDRESS AND WHY NOT TO HER DESKTOP EMAIL ADDRESS?   
    9. THE CODE SHOULD BE SENT TO HER EMAIL ADDRESS.
  2. Facts and Background
    1. My assistant as above puts in the code sent to my address.
    2. She then ticks the box saying don’t ask for 30 days.
    3. THE 30 DAY BOX DOES NOT WORK BECAUSE SHE HAS TO GO THROUGH THE SAME ROUTINE EVERY DAY WHEN SHE LOGS IN
    4. I WANT HER TO NOT HAVE TO PUT IN A CODE FOR THE NEXT 30 DAYS
  3. In my private capacity, using my own private desktop, I have a number of MYOB packages for a number of different businesses for which I do bookkeeping.
    1. 3 businesses use Account Right
    2. 1 uses MYOB Essentials
    3. 1 uses MYOB Business
    4. EVERY TIME I LOG IN TO MYOB AND CAN CHOOSE THE BUSIINESS FROM THE LIST OF BUSINESSES TO WHICH I HAVE ACCESS, I HAVE TO PUT IN A 2FA CODE DESPITE TICKING THE 30 DAY BOX.
    5. THE REQUIREMENT TO HAVE TO ALWAYS PUT IN THE 2FA CODE IS EXTREMELY IRRITATING AND TIME WASTING.

Thank you for your response. May we please verify if your assistant uses same email address to access your company file on your MYOB Account as well? If so, we will be needing to gather some information to check you account. To further assist you with this, kindly send me a private message with the following details:

 

  • Serial number
  • Name of primary contact and email address
  • Business name
  • Email address using 2FA
