Hi @DebbieFFS
From AccountRight 2020.2 onwards, the payroll year rollover is completed automatically by MYOB. Clients will not have to action anything at their end. This does mean that currently, the user would not be able to enter a payroll transaction dated 01/07/2020 or afterwards until that automatic rollover is completed, which is planned for later this month.
Kind regards,
Steven

Are you kidding me? I have to process this payroll this week. Our guys are paid on the 1st of the month - and it's school holidays next week - so this week is it.
What is the date MYOB will magically enable me to use my program?????
Had I known this stupid change, I certainly would not have upgraded.

Hello Steven and Emily,
Could you please explain the payroll EOY process further?
When you say that a July pay run cannot be processed until the new financial year starts do you mean the Current FY in MYOB has to be FY2021 or until the clock on the computer says that it is now 1/7 or later?
When does this auto payroll roll over happen?
What triggers it?
Does it depend on the STP EOFY Finalisation being done? - This may not be done untlil well into July or even Later!
Please explain.
Cheers
David

Hi David -
As support explained to me today -
It is all date based now - you can't process a pay dated 1/7/2020 UNTIL the system date is 1/7/2020 - so no pays in advance for the new year!
The support guy I talked to "suggested" I first take the file offline - then change my system date, which "might" work around the issue - but could affect 2 factor verification..... I got the feeling it was an unexpected problem with their new version. I think he said the developers were looking at it, but no promises - I really can't recall as I had steam coming out of my ears. We process pays monthly - so the money needed to be their 1/7/2020 - as this is only a smallish payroll - I'm just going to manually put the pays through the bank - thanks MYOB for nothing

Hi @DebbieFFS
Payroll transactions dated with the payment date of 01/07/2020 will be able to be processed from the first date of that payroll year i.e. from 01/07/2020 onwards.
@David_Cree when the payroll year has been completed i.e. 30/06/2020, the payroll year is updated and thus users will be able to enter those pays for the now current payroll year 01/07/2020. It has come to our attention that clients can change the system date to fall in 01/07/2020 or later and they can record those transactions, however, this is not something that we do recommend at this time.
Kind regards,
Steven

And what about all of us who need to process a payroll now? Forward dated?
IS there going to be a solution?

Hello @Steven_M @DebbieFFS
Changing the System Date is fraught with problems.
And it will probably affect the MYOB 2 Factor Authentication as well as any other 2FA systems.
In the past users like @DebbieFFS and @janettes would be able to close the payroll year and then process for 1/7. Surely this was something that the developers would (should) have considered.
Cheers

I 100% agree. This is totally not workable. Many businesses pay on the first. Am I expected to get up at midnight and do the payroll.
My payroll needs to be released on the FIRST of July.

Hi @janettes @DebbieFFS and @David_Cree
I agree - crazy situation - another one of those instances where someone on MYOB thinks of a good idea but fails to road test it with real people and real situations. Makes perfect sense to a developer - why would someone want to process payroll in advance?
Regards
Gavin
