We have installed MYOB AccountRight Basics, version 2012.9 NZ to a new laptop with Windows 10, somehow we are not able to open the previous MYOB files after the installation.
The InstallShield Wizard prompted message below after we have installed the MYOB software
“ Your serial number could not be automatically registered for online MYOB software updates. There may be an issue with your internet connection or the registration server. You can try to registering for MYOB software update later. “
We don't have any internet connection problem.
Please could someone let us know how to fix it ? Thanks.

Without investigating the diagnotic log it is difficult for us to determine what an appropriate solution for that error would be. With that said, try running the tool on Unable to open AccountRight file over that company file. This has been known to correct similar issues for other clients.
However, if you are still getting that error message after running that tool can you please get a copy of the diagnostic log to help us investigate this issue further for you.

We tried to open the MYOB file just now and it prompted message below:

Unable to open the company file.
To open this company file you need AccountRight Basics 2013.5
To upgrade your software, go to the Help menu and choose Updates>Check for updates

Sorry, we are not able to get the ‘Updates’ from Help menu

Thanks for your reply.
We follow the instructions as per URL below to upgrade the backup offline from an earlier version (AccountRight Version 2012.9 NZ) file. The system requires the file in myo format, but our backup is in myox format, therefore can’t upgrade the file. Please let us know how to solve this issue, thanks.

What you will therefore need to do is restore the backup then open it in version 2013.5. This will then prompt you to upgrade the file.
