Accountright 2019.2 upgrade Terminal Server install to 2019.3

We have 2019.2 installed on our Terminal Server.  This morning we updated a company file from V19 and it was reported to me that the migrated file would not open because it's not V2019.3.

Terminal Server installs are not the same as plain workstation or server installs.

Is there an instruction for doing this upgrade now, and for future version upgrades.

Re: Accountright 2019.2 upgrade Terminal Server install to 2019.3

HI @GMP

In terms of installing a version of AccountRight 201X on a terminal server I do recommend having a look at our MSI installation instructions which steps through how to run the MSI installer on your terminal server.

You can obtain the MSI installer for a version of AccountRight 201X off our Product Downloads Page

Neil

Re: Accountright 2019.2 upgrade Terminal Server install to 2019.3

I know how to install it as a new install, that's how I got 2019.2 on there.

My question was how to go about an upgrade from 2019.2 to 2019.3.

In the end I did the following

1)uninstall 2019.2 from Control Panel

2)installed 2019.3 SE package using Control Panel

3)Set the library location

4)Reboot

Test an RDP logon and opened the online file successfully.

At the moment only one user is accessing 2019.3 and the online file, fingers crossed that a second+ user can also open it.

Re: Accountright 2019.2 upgrade Terminal Server install to 2019.3

Hi @GMP

Unlike AccountRight v19, where there was an update file released for moving from one version to another, with AccountRight 201X however each new version needs to be installed separately on the system. So when upgrading from 2019.2 to 2019.3 you need to do a full install of 2019.3 using the MSI installation instructions

Re: Accountright 2019.2 upgrade Terminal Server install to 2019.3

Should I then uninstall the SE edition and install the MSI + API using the command line?

Or will the SE edition behave the right way?  I noticed an MSI was unopacked out of the .exe file almost immediately and the API install launched after the first part finshed.

Re: Accountright 2019.2 upgrade Terminal Server install to 2019.3

Hi @GMP

The MSI installer is specifically designed for a terminal server environment, while the AccountRight Server Edition is not specifically designed for such an environment.

From a product functionality perspective the AccountRight PC edition (which is what the MSI installs) and the Server edition, have the same in product functionality. The only noticeable difference is that the Server edition is designed to sit on a server and host the company file for other non terminal server computers to connect to and access the file through a network library
