Cannot open 2016.1 Account right files

Yesterday we updated our server and workstation copies of AccountRight to 2016.1 as 2015.4 was no longer working. However I am still receiving the "Accountright has encountered an error and needs to exit." message. It tells me to contact MYOB Technical support

Hi there @DKinnane,

 

Welcome to the Community Forum. We do hope you find it a valuable resource.

 

When you get the 'AccountRight has encountered an error and needs to exit' error message, towards the bottom lefthand corner of the popup window, you should see an option to 'View Error Details'. If you could post a copy of the full error message, that would be helpful in allowing us to investigate this issue further.

 

Additionally, please also provide us with additional details such as when the error occurs (e.g. when opening the datafile, or when trying to edit an invoice, etc).

 

Do let us know how you go, and feel free to post again anytime you require.

Thank you for your reply.

 

There is not a view error detail button as per the below screenshot.

 

So the full details of our system and error are; We have Accountright and use the server version rather than the cloud. This week our IT guy installed the server version and also the desktop versions to each workstation. Our IT said that when he installed the server version the program tries to install to a private area of the system rather than the correct area? He had to create a work around for that. After doing that when we open MYOB it prompts to upgrade the file, but then when you try to open the upgraded file this error appears

Hi there @DKinnane,

 

Thanks for the additional information and for providing the screenshot - that was really helpful.

 

It seems like you may have encountered an issue that has been linked to the latest Windows updates (installed on or after the 9th of March). Thankfully, we have provided a hot fix tool for our clients to run over their company files that should address this issue.
