Hi,
I've been running Windows on my Mac with VMWare fusion in order to use MYOB accountright for over 10 years - this has worked fine and I love the setup.
Unfortunately, it now no longer works and I have to upgrade my Mac as my current one doesn't support the latest OS.
The new Mac M1 would allow me to run Windows 11 ARM with Parallels. My question is is MYOB Accountright compatible with Windows 11 ARM?
As I am currently unable to use MYOB on my computer a speedy response would be appreciated so that I can decide which computer to buy
thanks

Hi @marmak , I have the same set-up as you, but on a later (Intel) Mac. Did you get 10 years of service on the same Mac?! My comments (edited):
1. MYOB added Windows 11 as a supported OS in recent days (refer Chris's post).
2. I've tested the upgrade of a Windows 10 VM to Windows 11, using VMWare Fusion Pro version 13, just released. This worked, with some tricky points. I then installed AccountRight 2022.10, which seems to work OK. The forum has one or two posts with issues, but I've tested some of those, and they work for me.
One point that concerns me is that (as I read it) a Windows 11 VMWare VM cannot be simply copied to a new machine; portability has always been a big plus for VMs. I don't know what Parallels allows.
3. Parallels seems to offer an easier experience for Windows 11 at the moment. Hopefully VMWare will improve.
4. So either VMWare or Parallels will now support Windows 11 on a Mac (Intel or ARM), and (on Intel Mac) AccountRight will run. The browser version of AccountRight will also work on Windows 11, but is not yet fully featured.

Hello @marmak
Thank you for your question.
Our AccountRight system requirements page does state that you are able to use Windows 11. I would recommend where possible to be accessing AccountRIght on a full Windows computer rather than through any parallels.

Hi Mike,
Thanks for your response, no, I've upgraded twice in those 10 years and have had an intel Core i7 late 2015 for the last couple of years which I can't upgrade to the latest OSX, a lot of apps are no longer supported and my Windows has completely stopped loading so that's the only reason I'm looking to upgrade now.
I'd have to upgrade VMWare fusion anyway so I don't mind switching to Parallels if that works better with Windows 11 ARM.
My question is still whether Accountright will run on Windows 11 ARM? and more importantly whether MYOB would bother to fix any problems if not.
Thanks for your time

Hi @marmak , I'll have to leave that question for the moderators.
Programs designed for Intel chips will either run natively on ARM chips, or with emulation, a process that converts the code compiled for the Intel chip into machine code for the ARM chip. This has a slight performance penalty.

Hello @marmak
Our system requirements do state that it will work with windows 11.
I am unable to guarantee that the software will work as intended if using one that isn't listed on the system requirements.
We will be happy to assist in any issues that may pop up, however, we do recommend where possible installing on a windows PC and not in VMWare and following the system requirements.
