Hi,
We are accountants, I have received two files from clients, (AccountRight 2023.3), I upgraded our AccountRight to 2023.3 yesterday.
I can't open the files, they don't have passwords, but when I enter through the login I get the message:
The ID or password you entered is incorrect. Please ty again. I have checked twice with clients, there are no passwords.
With the other file, it is zipped. When I try to unzip the file, it also asks for a password? No password exists.
I would appreciate some idea on how to work around this.
Thanks

If no password is set, the default user login is Administrator (make sure this is spelt correctly) and the password field is left blank. If you get a 'user name or password incorrect' message, then despite what the client tells you, a password has been set.
This is common with online files. Users are setup to log in directly with their my.myob email address and password, skipping the 'in file' user name and password. So they forget over time that there is an actual password in the file and when they try to access offline, they get stuck. Due to multiple users, the password might have been set my someone elsed who had access before the file went online.
The password would need to get reset. See link here for MYOB's password recovery service - or send me an email for details of how you can reset it yourself cheaper and quicker than MYOB will.
As for the zip (or backup) protected with a password - this is almost impossible to reset/decrypt. When a user creates a backup of an online file, they have an option to add a password to protect the backup. Clearly despite what the client might be telling you, this is what has happened. The default password is the user's password however they could have used anything.
Regards
Gavin
