MYOB support lies about Windows 10 causing problem confirming company file

I received the message "Unable to activate company file" recently, despite using the same MYOB installation and company file for the last year, with the same operating system (Windows 10).


I contacted support. I was first told that I was using a very old version of MYOB (2014.4). Then I was told that Windows 10 was incompatible with this version and this was causing the problem with confirmation. I would have to upgrade to confirm the company file.


Fortunately I knew that MYOB is dishonest and attempts to extort their customers into upgrading.


I told the support person that I knew about their extortion techniques and I would be making a complaint to the relevant government agency about their behaviour.


Amazingly, the support person tapped a key on their keyboard and suddenly company file confirmation worked again. Can you believe it?


What a bunch of liars. Don't fall for their dirty tricks.


Before the call I was intending to enquire about upgrading, but strangely during the call I lost the desire to give this dishonest company any more money.

We have been reaching out to clients on older versions of the program to ensure that their current product is still meeting their requirements and whether or not the latest AccountRight 2020 version, which is compatible with Windows 10, may be better suited.


With that being said, I can see from your account that the company file has recently been confirmed and due to the set up confirmation should be able to continue using the Confirm Online functionality with AccountRight 2014.4. However, if you do require assistance with the confirmation don't hesitate to get in touch.
