Totals not adjusting automatically in Spend Money

When entering figures in Spend Money and splitting the total amount into separate Account categories, eg Purchases incl GST - I enter the GST component then the remaining balance used to automatically calculate in the Purchases GST Free column.  This isn't happening anymore.

In 'Receive Money' it is also not automatically calculating the balance in GST Free after allocating part of the total figure that has GST.

Does anyone know if I can fix this in Set Up anywhere?  I can't find it.  MYOB Help consultant helped me to clear my Cache in my MYOB software but that didn't help.  The wait time for the specialist team was 40 minutes which I couldn't afford.  It's a 'small' inconvenience comparted to many other issues out there since the upgrade but it wastes alot of time in completing data entry.

When entering Receive Money in the 2019.2 update, figures not calculating..

When entering Receive Money, after entering the amount including GST, the GST free column isn't updating the figure automatically as it used to before updating software. Any help?

Re: Totals not adjusting automatically in Spend Money

Hi @KirrilyJ

When you create a Spend Money (or Recieve Money) transaction if the user does enter in the amount before entering the allocation lines the balances of those lines would be pre-filled with the balance. For example, if the amount is $150, the first line will be set to be $150 automatically, if that is adjusted to be $100, the next line will be populated with $50 when the line is created.

With AccountRight 2019, the key value is when the line is created. If you have a recurring transaction or you a situation where the line is already be populated it will not automatically adjust as it does it when the line is created. Do note that this is a difference between the AccountRight Classic range which would do that updating automatically if the line was already added.

Kind regards,
Steven

Re: Totals not adjusting automatically in Spend Money

Thanks for your response Steven.  I'm using AccountRight Plus and the totals don't adjust automatically.  They used to before the update.  I use Recurring transactions for the majority of my data entry for both Receive and Spend money.  If I don't enter a transaction using Recurring, (that is create a new entry each time), it automatically adjusts balances.  I'm a little confused;  why doesn't it automatically adjust when I'm using a Recurring anymore? Does this mean that I can't use all of my Recurring transactions anymore?  Obviously I used to use Recurring to save time but now that I've lost this function my data entry will be alot more time consuming.

Re: Totals not adjusting automatically in Spend Money

Hi @KirrilyJ

The automatic population of the second allocation line is done at the time of creating that line. For example, if you were to tab to the next line (i.e. the third line) of that transaction then you would find that auto pre-filling occurs.

In terms of the recurring transactions, that transactional line would be already created and thus would need to manually need to have the valued entered it for it or removed and readded so that residual allocation can be picked up when that line is created.

Kind regards,
Steven

Re: Totals not adjusting automatically in Spend Money

Right with you on this. This really is a slow down on processing transactions isn't it! I've had to abandon recurring and now manually enter line by line to get the balancing amount automatically to fill on the final account allocation line. A real nuisance! Why do things that aren't broken get fixed!

Re: Totals not adjusting automatically in Spend Money

I am following this thread for an answer. The AR 2019 is taking us some getting used to compared with the AccountRight v19.16. I am hoping they will update AR to have the automatic calcuation soon. It is so time consuming to manually calculate figures when I have many different expense accounts on 1 docket.

Re: Totals not adjusting automatically in Spend Money

Hi @RaymondChan

Thanks for your feedback.  I hope you're finding plenty of useful information, tips and support on the community forum.

To stay in the loop for when AccountRight will have updates, you can subscribe to the AccountRight blog on the community forum.  I understand there is an adjustment to using a different software as the classic version does not perform the same as AR live. If you have functions that you want considered in future product development you can suggest this/vote for the function on the AccountRight Ideas Exchange

If you have any specific inquiries or advice please feel free to utilize the forum. If this answers your post please mark 'Accept as Solution' so other users on the forum can find this information easier.

Cheers,
Theresa

Re: Totals not adjusting automatically in Spend Money

Just wondering out aloud here, why are certain features that existed say in the Classic version v19.xx dropped in AR 20xx.xx rather then maintain all existing features/abilities and add on new functionality in AR 2109.xx.

In my simplistic mind I'd want to maintain everything from a previous version and provide further features not loose some.
