Solved: Go to Solution

Upgrading from AccountRight 2020.2 to 2020.3

We get this message on one of the computers "windows can't open this file MYOB_AccountRight_setup_2020.3 (1).1496195857" (2 computers upgraded OK , 1 computer got this message)

Any Ideas?

Hi @BillJ 

 

You occasionally see this situation pop up when the user uses Internet Explorer to download the installer. What happens is that Internet Explorer isn't fully reading the installer and strips the .exe from the file name and thus when you attempt to open that installer it can't run as it doesn't have a file extension.

 

Typically, the best recommendation is to use another Internet browser to download the installer, something like Google Chrome. Alternatively, you could look at renaming the file that has downloaded, stripping everything after the MYOB_AccountRight_Setup_2020.3 and replacing it with .exe So the file would be MYOB_AccountRight_setup_2020.3.exe before running it.
