error message saying i dont have permission to upgrade to 2015.4

been trying to upgrade to 2015.4 but getting error message saying i dont have permission. im the only user. i installed it. im the administrator. i thought i needed the upgrade because i wasnt able to 'get bank statement' in bank register.

Sorry to hear you've been experiencing issues updating the software.

 

Can I please confirm that you are the administrator of your computer and not your company file? The reason for this question being that the administrator rights to the company file differs to the administrator rights within Windows. That is, signing into your datafile as 'Administrator' when first opening up your company file does not indicate that you have administrative rights on your computer.

 

In regards to having been able to install the software prior to this update, are you attempting to install the PC edition or the Server edition of AccountRight? As installing the PC edition does not typically require administrative rights, this may explain why you were able to install the AccountRight software previously even if you may have lacked the rights to do so. Having said that, AccountRight does utilize the Microsoft .Net Framework (a software framework developed by Microsoft) - if there have been any .Net Framework updates that need to be done, this would require administrative rights which may also explain why you are encountering the error message now and not previously.

 

Ultimately, the error message citing a lack of permissions to install the software is generally indicative that there is insufficient administrative rights, which extends beyond the AccountRight software. We would therefore advise that you seek consult from your I.T specialist to have a look at the settings of the user you sign into the computer as.

Yes I am the administrator. I am the only user of the laptop. I am using the upgrade link within MYOB that shows upon opening the company file.

Hi there @Hearts,

 

Which operating system are you running on that machine? If it, by any chance, happens to be Windows 10, we do recommend you try downloading the v2015.4 installer from your my.MYOB account, right-clicking on the installer file, and selecting the option to 'Run as Admin'.

 

To download the installer from your my.MYOB, simply sign in, select the My Products tab > Downloads > select your product > and a list of all the downloads you are entitled to should populate on the screen.
