Customise Inventory valuation report

Hello

I would like to customise the Inventory Valuation Report and I am wondering if it is possible. I want to exclude inactive items. They have zero inventory and $0.

Also, I would like to report on inventory type. I have our inventory split into types so it would be good if i could filter using a custom list to choose the type I want to report on.

Even if i could just acieve excluding the inactive stock, that would be a good start.

Re: Customise Inventory valuation report

Hi @Judy01

While the Inventory Value Reconciliation report appears in the inventory based section of the Index to Reports the actual report is an account style based report. This does mean that the filter based on that report is done on the linked (inventory) asset account, rather than by item. As such, you wouldn't be able to filter by items or exclude individual, possibly inactive, items from appearing.

The only ways that I could you doing something close would be to renumber all inactive items to have a zz at the start i.e. zzitemnumber. This way those items would appear at the bottom of the report sections and thus could be more easily removed if the report was sent to Excel.

The other option would be to set up a new asset account called "Inactive inventory" or something similar. You would then set all those items to have that Linked Asset Account for Item Inventory. This way those inventory items will show up separately on the report. Alternatively, you could filter the report using the Accounts to exclude that individual account from appearing. Would only recommend this if the item has a 0.00 quantity and on hand value. If you decide to re-use that item you would need to ensure that you changed that inventory account prior to recording any new transactions against it.

In terms of custom lists, as the report is looking more at the linked asset account than the inventory item you are not able to filter by custom lists or other item records.

Kind regards,
Steven

Re: Customise Inventory valuation report

Thanks Steven. I  might look at your last option.  Our parent company has decided they want an inventory valuation report each week. Although it is easy to extract to Excel and edit from there, I prefer to use a report I can send straight from the system without manipulation because they are going to map it to their codes.
