Incorrect linked account for purchases

A staff member has accidently changed the liability account for tracking payables in setup/linked accounts/purchase accounts. It should be linked to Trade Creditors but changed the linked account to go to a different liability account

I have just picked this error up but this has been happening for the last 3 months.

Is there any way that I can change the linked account back to Trade Creditors without having to delete and re-enter the transaction again?

Thanks in advance

Re: Incorrect linked account for purchases

Hi @Mickayla

You can change the linked account to the correct account, and then combine the two accounts with your correct account as the primary account and the incorrect account as your secondary account.

This is performed through the Accounts module, Accounts List, highlight the account you want as your primary and click combine accounts

This will move all transactions to the correct account including all history and audit trails.

Hope this helps

Re: Incorrect linked account for purchases

Hello @JeffreyTodd, @Mickayla, that would only give a correct result if the incorrect liability account has never been used for anything else.

If it has been used, then by merging it, you would end up moving its transactions to your Accounts Payable linked account, and the payables reconciliation would be out of balance.
