We have been using periodical inventory for a while and now want to convert to perpetual inventory. Problem is for most of the items it is coming up with an error message stating that 'you have sales or purchases on file for this item' even when there doesn't appear to be. Apart from creating 100s of new inventory items, is there another way to change it, apart from ticking the 'I inventory this item' box?

Hi @Monick , sorry but once sales or purchases have been recorded against an item those settings can't be changed, because the accounting entries for inventoried items are different. You will need to create new items, and start perhaps by exporting the items to a text file, open in Excel for modifications, then add a Z prefix to the existing items, then import the new items from a text file created from the Excel file.
Take a back-up before doing any import.
