Locked period problem

Hi , We get an inventory error message when we try to lock the period. How this can be fixed?

Firstly I would suggest running the Reports>>Inventory>>Item Register [Summary] report for a future date i.e. 31/12/9998. Do go through and make sure that no quantity and values are showing as being in a negative situation. If you do have an negative value you would be looking at doing an inventory adjustment to ensure that it is not in a negative.

If all the item's quantity and values are showing as positive values in that report we may have to look at running a script over the company file which has been known to assist with allowing the user to change the preferences. In order for us to arrange for the script to be run can you confirm the following information:

  • Where is the company file saved? i.e. Online or Local
  • What are the LAST FOUR digits of the serial number? - Setup>>Company Information
  • What is the company file ID of that file? - Help>>About AccountRight.

Hi Steven,

I generated the report, there wasn't any negative figures ( Please see attached report ). When I go to inventory command centre - Item list , I can see weired on hand quatities (after decimal point), even one negative balance.

Company file is online

Last four digits - 1047

File Id - 1

I've run the scripts over that company file. So do try it now and let us know how you get on.

Please note you may need to close down and reopen the file for the changes to take effect.

I've run those scripts through over the same company file in the cloud. You will need to close down the file and reopen it if you have had it ope. Do let us know how you get on.

Sorry to hear that script hasn't fixed the problem for you.


My understanding is that these errors are caused by rounding errors in the item's history.  This is something that we are reported to the required team to look into the root cause for a fix. However, in the meantime we are happy to run the scripts over the company should the conditions be met for it. If the scripts don't correct that error we will need to arrange for the company file to be sent in for the team to run the scripts on the company file.
