Printing - stops printing after awhile

Hello

 

Is anyone having issues with printing from MYOB?

 

It will work for a few hours and then it wont print anything.  Everything else i print from doesn't have any issues only MYOB.

 

On days where i print heaps i have to close the program and re open it multiple time to be able to print again.

 

It doesn't even make it to the print queue.

I do have this issue every now and then - usually closing & reopening MYOB fixes it - but very frustrating.

Sorry that you are having problems with printing. 

Can I get you to try the troubleshooting outlined in this support note - Printing from AccountRight

Hi Tracey

 

So MYOB decided to not print anything today so  I tried the trouble shooting and MYOB was able to use the xps printer.

 

According to the trouble shooting guide this proves that MYOB is functioning OK.

 

Could you please explain then why MYOB wont print but when i print form other programs there isn't an issue.   Eg Outlook and adobe.

 

This print failure happens to us with different printers, it is not just limited to one printer or set of drivers.

 

To get it printing again we are all forced to exit the program and restart it.

I have been investigating this and found that the reason users can print from other programs but not MYOB is that the 'language' AccountRight uses to create the documents to send to the printer is a Windows standard that is a part of .NET. Not all printers fully comply with this .NET standard so you get a language barrier between the programs.

 

As you mentioned, you have been able to successfully print to XPS which does suggest that the issue is related to printer drivers. Have you tried updating or reinstalling the drivers to rule this out as a possible cause? Can I also get you to check that your .NET Framework is up-to-date.

We have the same problem.  The ideas presented in the trouble shooting don't seem relevant to this particular issue as we are able to print everyday, it's just that at some point it stops.  The fact that exiting then going back into MYOB fixes the issue suggests it's a MYOB issue not anything else doesn't it?

Can you be more specific as to the standard it is to meet so I can check this out.

 

Also, in my mind this would not explain the intermitant nature of it.  It can work for hours and then just fail.

Hi John,

 

The language that AccountRight uses is Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dotnet/framework/wpf/ 

 

Another possibility is other printer programs running which may be preventing access to AccountRight. 

 

Please let me know if any of the troubleshooting steps help so that we can narrow down the cause of the problem.
