Searching Cards by more than just the name

In Version 19.x you could search by more options than just the Company/Last name when searching cards. This feature appears to have gone in 2012. This is a backward step in my mind - I search phone numbers at times and other information - please can we have this back

Re: Searching Cards by more than just the name

Hi

I agree with Jenniek as users need multiple options to search for data. In my 11 years of accounting software development, it is not a good idea to remove features such as searching on other fields as this may stop other users from updating to the new version

Thanks

Ditto x 2.  Please bring back the extra fields to do card searches.

Re: Searching Cards by more than just the name

It does search for anything if you type in a number it will bring up any phone numbers containg that sequence of numbers, or a card id any of the things that display in the list you seem to be able to do a search on.

You dont need to select what your searching for now but you cant do a search on address (you can search by postcode by using the advance search).

Re: Searching Cards by more than just the name

Hi jennieK,

You will find the Ctrl + Alt + F search feature will allow you find what you are looking for.

When you are in the Cards List, click into the grid (by selecting a card) and press Ctrl + Alt  + F which will bring up a search window.  This window will allow you to enter any text which will highlight and find what you are looking for within the grid you are in.

When you are searching for a phone number use " " as this will search for the entire number.  For example:

Searching for 02 65 will bring up all phone numbers that have 02 OR 65

Searching for "02 65" will bring up all phone numbers that contains an exact match to 02 65.

Re: Searching Cards by more than just the name

Thanks for the tip about  Ctrl + Alt + F which allows me to search name & phone number but really want to search by customer address. Any ideas?

Re: Searching Cards by more than just the name

Hello JML,

AccountRight 2013 does have the option to search for cards by post code. You can do this by clicking advanced on the card list and using the postcode from and to fields.

However if what you are looking for is the capability to search by address in full, this is not currently available in the software. I would encourage you to raise this as a new idea for this, so that it is more prominent.

Kind Regards

Liam
