items list is in Aud instead of Euro

Have a client who MYOB upgraded their currency version 19 to the latest MYOB but the sale price of the items are all in AUD and not EURO. My client always sells via the item invoice in Euro, how can we fix this please?

Re: items list is in Aud instead of Euro

Hi @kirstenk , the values held as selling prices in the item list have always been in the home currency, eg AUD. In v19 those values would appear as such on a sales invoice in any currency. Are you saying that they are now converted at the exchange rate of the foreign currency sales invoice?

Re: items list is in Aud instead of Euro

Thank you Mike

In previous version my item list was in Euro.  I invoice our customers in Euro.  When we transferred to this new MYOB the Items list price that was in Euro was deemed to be AUD and now when I palace an order I have to change every line.

Re: items list is in Aud instead of Euro

Hi @kirstenk , it would be more correct to say that the selling prices in v19 items list were currency-neutral, ie a value of $100 would appear on a sales invoice as USD100, EUR100, GBP100 etc., according to the currency of the customer.

Inventory figures were always regarded as being in the home currency, but the selling price behaviour suited all those who wanted to store different currency prices in different price levels.

So now a value of $100 is being converted at the exchange rate for the transaction; this used to happen with purchases (eg a standard cost of $100 if used on a purchase order would appear as US$75, converted);  but now it appears sales is following the same principle, which is an unfortunate change in behaviour.

Re: items list is in Aud instead of Euro

Unfortunate is a very kind word.

I will have to cope with placing orders by just changing every price as it comes up on the order until MYOB come up with a solution.

What I can not cope with is the reports that I need to send to the French Supplier (our largest by 99% supplier) are not available in Euro anymore only AUD and the French company are requesting this for their Govt audit right now.

Thanks for your help in making me understand that there is nothing I can do.

Regards

Kirsten

Re: items list is in Aud instead of Euro

Hi @kirstenk , I've briefly tested an option which may help you. Try starting with the sale in AUD, enter in the transaction lines, and the price will pull through correctly, then when done, change the invoice currency to USD and the exchange rate as required. I think you will find the price will remain unchanged.

As for reporting, we await report developments in the next release.

Re: items list is in Aud instead of Euro

Thanks Mike

That solution works for entering orders.

In regards to reporting, I spoke with MYOB today and was told many companies are in the same position and that I should go back to my old version, and that I can have a code for the ATO re Payrol reporting.  I am leaving this for my MYOB bookeeper.  He is available tomorrow afternoon.  So I think that I will just have to update all my recording since the move in late May and wait till MYOB gets it sorted.

Thanks for your help,

Best regards

Kirsten

Re: items list is in Aud instead of Euro

Hi @kirstenk , I have since been advised by MYOB Product management that this change in behaviour (of selling prices) was unintended, and will be fixed in 2019.3.

Re: items list is in Aud instead of Euro

Thank you Mike for your help.  Any idea when 2019.3 will happen?

I now have a new problem with Statements being in AUD instead of Euro.  Will this be part of the 2019.3 fix?

Best regards

Kirsten

Re: items list is in Aud instead of Euro

Hi @kirstenk , yes I understand statements in originating currency will be available in 2019.3, due out in "Q3 2019" according to various posts I have seen, so hopefully by 30/9/19.
