sales reports timing out

The main sales reports are still timing out.  I need to use these all the time.  Please can you fix this at the myob end.  Why can it produce an analyse sales report but not a report by customer?  This used to work in 2019.2 but hasn't since 2019.3 and we're now in 2019.4 and I still can't get the reports I need.  Very frustrating.

Hi @Alexaaa 

 

Thanks for your post. A timeout error is caused when AccountRight is being asked to process more information than it can handle in a specific timeframe. If you are getting a timeout error then one of the first things to try, particularly if you have upgraded to a new version, is to apply the timeout extender.

 

The file that gets updated by following the timeout extender instructions is specific to each version of AccountRight, so if you have upgraded to a new version, such as 2019.4 from 2019.3, you will need to apply the timeout extender to the new version.

 

If you are still getting the timeout error after applying the timeout extender then you would need to reduce the amount of information AccountRight is being asked to provide, eg, reducing the date range.

I am reluctant to apply this timeout extender as it strongly recommends an IT professional do it, which I am not.  Please can you explain why these reports never used to time out and now they do?  I am not asking it for more information that I used to, and if I need a month's worth of sales info, it is annoying to have to ask it produce two shorter reports to get the information I need regularly.  Surely this extender can be applied at your end to the whole program.  It must be a setting somewhere that has been arbitrarily set to cut out before myob has time to extract the information.  Sales reports are essential, not specialised, so surely myob needs to be able to produce them without a complicated, user implemented, fix.  We pay myob to use the program, I don't understand why I should have to pay an IT professional to implement the fix.

Please can you forward this to someone at myob who can get this done urgently.

Hi @Tracey_H , could you please advise what is being done to address timeouts on reports?

 

Users should be able to run any reports they choose. Timeouts indicate a problem beyond the user's control

I have the same problem, I need to print the sales report regularly as well and havent been able to print for weeks, i need to print this today! Myob is the most frustrating programme to deal with, there are constant problems which hold back the operations of our company,  you are saying to reduce the information needed on the report so it doesnt time out? are you serious? if your software cannot print data for 1 month then there is something seriously wrong. the operation timeout error is constantly popping up I really need this sorted today as Im already 11 days past my deadline thanks.

I do understand your frustation and apologise for the inconvenience these timeout errors are causing. I realise this doesn't help you now but our developers are working on resolving this issue. In the meantime we do suggest applying the timeout extender or reducing the amount of data when running reports.

So I have to pay an IT consultant to do this, with possible risk of corruption of my file? Will MYOB reimburse cost of IT consultant?

I have tried running the report I need for 5 days, and it still times out.  Too much data cannot be the problem.

Can I get you to post a copy of the error log please? If your file is online, can you check the file out and try to run that report?
