1 PAYSLIP BUT PAID TWICE - EMPLOYEE TO REPAY AT $100 PER WEEK

Hi there

I have contacted my bank to find out how this occurred

I do the pays on a Thursday (which I did).  Somehow one of my employees got paid on the Wednesday and Thursday (duplicate).

1 payslip but double paid.  I recorded the second payment in MYOB as a double payment (still just the 1 payslip).

The employee would like to pay back the amount at $100 per week.

How do I record this to make sure each weekly payslip matches the bank statement.

Thanks so much for any assistance.

Hi @Safety2

There are two ways you can process an employee overpayment, as an adjustment in a normal pay or by processing a separate pay for the adjustment.  The first option would be best to match with bank feeds as it will give you one transaction for the actual amount paid.

This support note, Fixing a payroll overpayment or underpayment, gives the instructions for both options.

I would also recommend checking that the PAYG withholding is calculated correctly, you may need to manually adjust it.

Let me know if you need further help

Cheers,
Tracey
